A tail made for my personal character, Beetle. Her tail is unique and isn't really based on any specific species.
The grey is locally bought seal fur (EDIT: No. Not real fur. 'seal fur' is just a term for very short and thick fake fur. Sorry, I've been buried in fursuits so long I assumed this was common knowledge). The black is 3 inch Monterey Mills fox (EDIT: Again, 'fox' is just a term used by that specific fake fur supplier) fur. And the purple is 8-10 inches long and is from National Fiber Technology.
Eventually this will be incorporated into a full fursuit.

Are you being facetious?
Yes, I do live in Canada (Alberta) and, no, I don't have any issue with using real animal parts in art (nor do I think the seal hunt is a horrible thing). But real fur is not suitable for costumes so the only stuff I use is fake.
'seal fur' is a term meaning a very short pile faux fur - generally 1/2 inch long (or less) and very thick.

I'm not. When you said seal fur I thought real seal fur.
I try not to be facetious with things like this, and when I'm facetious, I'm FACETIOUS.
Thanks for the explanation. I guess people don't use slang like that around here...
That or I'm not hanging out with nearly enough sewing people.

Just no touchee!
I decided to go with a shorter one - mostly because I'd subconsciously want a longer tail to move and sway. Short tails look good just bouncing around. And given the length of the fur it ended up hanging pretty low anyways XD
.. damn.. why does everything written on FA sound dirty!

Oh, PURRR... The National Fibre Tech stuff is freakin' gorgeous and I love what you've done with it... Beautiful tail! I've only seen one small piece of Fibre Tech's fur- a sample of a "matted" look stuff for a werewolf costume a friend was planning. Danged stuff is insanely expensive, but so lovely.
Looking forward to the full ensemble when you have it all together- gorgeous stuff.

Still in love with this tail! <3 Also, was wondering if using fur from National Fiber Tech would work better for Luna's mane, tail and other long fringes instead of that fleece I sent you, since I want there to be a lot of it, and for it to be really long, and I'm not sure how long the fleece is or how much of it there is. I would like the fur to be kinda wavy though, do they have beige/cream-colored fur like that? Anyways, if you don't end up using the fleece for the fursuit, can you send it back for me to use on the leather mask? I think it would work ok for that: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3370651/ :)

Yeah, I expected it to be expensive, and I will see if I can get a sample, but can you possibly check that package of fleece to see how long it is, and if there's enough of it? (I think I actually may have had two packages of fleece sent to you; can't quite remember.) I can order more from here, if needed: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/WHITE-WASHED.....-/350376041915 It's said to be 9-12 inches in length, and that's even longer than the NFT fur, which would be great, if so. I really do prefer the look and coloration of the fleece (if it looks like the one in the picture there, which it's supposed to). Let me know, and thanks, hon! :)
Pulling out some of the wool at random, it looks like it'll be around 8 inches long by the time it's weft/glued. So yeah might as well just stick with this as I think it's more in line with the light and airy look you want. Even assuming some is too short/unusable, I think there should be plenty of fleece in what I already have :)
Ok, just let me know in advance if I need to order any more, since she has quite a lot of "fringes" (aside from the mane and tail tuft, which should be made of the longest fleece): on the undersides of her arms (elbow to wrist), down the backsides of her legs (knee to ankle), encircling the area between the fetlock and hoof on all her hooves, all the way down her spine and continuing down the length of her tail (topside), and in a V-shape on her chest, going over her shoulders and meeting up with her mane. (The long tufts on her ears will probably need to be made of fake fur, since those are pale golden and stand up like a caracal's.)
