How old were you when you lost your virginity?
15.
Were you furry then? Was it with another furry?
Yes, yes.
Do you regret losing your virginity?
No.
Would you rather have it now or have lost it to someone else?
I'm satisfied with how it turned out.
-I'm not willing to discuss anything about it-

Still a virgin, probably will be for a very long time. I'm quite shy, very bad at meeting new people, and haven't even got up to the "holding hands" level with any girl. All not exactly ideal things for losing one's virginity.
But, I've accepted it, so it's not a big deal for me. I still want to lose it, but I'm not really going to go out of my way to try.

General thoughts?
People in the fandom tend to treat sex weirdly. There's nothing wrong with being a virgin, and there's nothing wrong with being SAFELY promiscuous (safe being the key word here.)

No, no.
Do you regret losing your virginity? Would you rather have it now or have lost it to someone else?
No, my then best friend and I lost it to each other and that's fine by me.
Are you more sexually active with others within the fandom? outside? equal?
Within the fandom, but that's because most of the people I know out here in Cali are furries. If I was back home it would be outside the fandom, if only because I don't know any furries that live there.
What kind of things could the furry fandom establish to help keep younger furries abstinent? Is this important?
Why should we keep them abstinent? They should definitely know all they need to about safe sex, and DEFINITELY be taught how to avoid predators who seek out kids, but otherwise there shouldn't be an issue with teenagers exploring their sexuality with other teenagers. As long as they know the risks and how to take proper precautions, that is.

17 years old
Were you furry then? Was it with another furry?
yes and yes, but the fandom didn't have any corelation to it happening, i just met the right person
Do you regret losing your virginity? Would you rather have it now or have lost it to someone else?
god no, i think it was perfect
Are you more sexually active with others within the fandom? outside? equal?
leaning a bit towards fandom, but its close to equal
If you are still a virgin what keeps you remaining that way?
if i was, it would be the fact that I haven't met the right person
What kind of things could the furry fandom establish to help keep younger furries abstinent? Is this important?
honestly, no it really isn't in my eyes. Younger people are witness to pornographic things all the time, i saw porn when i was first at 12, and mind you i wasn't a furry. so either way people find it.....it really isn't nessisary for the fandom to take particular actions towards this in my eyes. although someone might disagree.

Still haven't swiped my vcard. There's nothing really keeping me abstinent other than there being a population of zero gay furries that I know of in my town. I can't really see myself with anyone that isn't a furry, it's too much a part of my life and I don't do vagoo so that kinda narrows my options to nothing. My town is practically non-existent.
idk, the suggestion I've got is to go to pounced.org. I think it's kind of like a furry myspace where you can search for other furries in your town. I'm really not that curious to see who in my town is a furry so I don't really know but you could try it out if you want to try to find other furries in your area.
Ha, I'm just complaining for the sake of complaining here, don't worry about it. I've got facebook for finding furs at my school, I've already found a few who I'm just too chicken to talk to. ;P
And I actually did try Pounced once... And was instantly bombarded by forty-year-olds looking for someone to top them at a con. @.@

Thinking maybe it should be specified to what people consider losing their virginity. To some any sexual contact (like oral) is a virginity-losing deal, while others consider penetration. Because the specifics could change some answers, and people have their own opinion to what is losing your virginity, I think it would be another interesting aspect to see.
Abstinence is an important yet I don't think that abstinence only teaching in school is the way to go and stressing that being the only lifestyle. There needs to be an understanding that abstinence is okay, but if you're going to do it, you need to be smart and educated about it. And that is my take on that!
How old were you when you lost your virginity? 18
Were you furry then? Was it with another furry? Uhm....Not really. I looked at furry art but wasn't a "furry" necessarily.
Do you regret losing your virginity? Would you rather have it now or have lost it to someone else? Honestly, yes I do regret who I lost my virginity too because of the person he was and the circumstances....
Are you more sexually active with others within the fandom? outside? equal? I have never, and probably never will be sexually active withing the fandom
If you are still a virgin what keeps you remaining that way?
What kind of things could the furry fandom establish to help keep younger furries abstinent? Is this important? The fandom is so heavily sex based, but really we don't need to focus on keeping the younger furs abstinent as much as keeping them safe because, honestly, they're going to do it if they want to. We just really need to stress safer sex practices

I was 11 when I had sex for the first time. It was with an older woman.
I think this actually helped me emotionally. I ended up having so much sex before the raging hormones of puberty, than I was much more level headed, and quite possibly didn't have to deal with a teen pregnancy situation.
I think the people who think that sex is some kind of "forbidden fruit," and say that you have to with until marriage end up becoming twisted.
Yes, you should be resonsible about sex. But phony religious morals are not resonsibility.
Sexuality and 1950's "Leave it to Beaver" moral baggage just don't mix.

Truth be told, I was quite tall, and didn't look like your nromal 11 year old.
And no, I was hardly damaged. I was like "Can we do it again??"
The only thing that caused me a little confusion, and angst I that I thought the woman "loved" me.
And I was like "OMG what will I tell my parents if this lady wants to marry me??" :)

I was... I want to say 10 with a girl who was 5 or 6 years older. General thoughts were meh. As for being furry or anything else I would say undefined because the internet did not exist much outside of BBS and colleges. I identified with equines and had my affinity for but did not know what furry was. Same for her.
Do I regret it? not really. If I had to do over again I would have skipped my own species but thats for another argument this group has already had.
As far as the humans I have been active with... I would say about half were in the fandom.
As for the younger generation mind you this is my observations. It concerns me all the rather open sexuality at cons and gatherings. Being raised a good little catholic I know abstinence does not work but I feel there is a mentality that furries feel safe having sex with other furs but there is some funk you can pick up at cons that chlorox cant cure. Use protection. Personally I would not mind seeing condoms offered or similar. I know most organizers could contact the local planned parenthood, aids outreach, etc group and they would gladly put a big bowl of condoms, lubes, guidebooks, etc out for free so maybe the spur of the moment encounters might pause and slip on a raincoat where as they would otherwise be unavailable in most hotels. I find trends in the furry population statistic wise tend to mirror the general population. If its a risk in the general population it is in the furry population. Even though my risk is low due to my lifestyle I still get tested for the full spectrum every year because I tend to do a lot of work in the medical field.

I first had sex at 17. I was a furry, but it wasn't with a furry. I've never given other furries special rights to my social life in any way. Other than my partner, who got into the fandom through me, I've only had sex with one furry, and it wasn't even at a con.
I don't really want to talk about "loosing virginity" because I don't want to legitimize the importance placed on the idea. Referring to a lack of action as a possession is just silly, and a moral holdover of times long past. Safe sex is important (very, very important), and I'm not going to get on someone for having a moral or ethical code that says they shouldn't have premarital sex, but the same needs to be returned: a con trying to keep people from having consensual sex would be pretty bullshit.

General thoughts?
Ah virginity... in a time when we really didn't know anything about our psyche. We had emotions we couldn't explain and raging hormones that told us to straddle what presented itself.
How old were you when you lost your virginity?
16
Were you furry then? Was it with another furry?
I wasn't exactly furry, but I was open to the idea. It was with someone... furry... yes... not exactly a furry person, but furry nonetheless
Do you regret losing your virginity? Would you rather have it now or have lost it to someone else?
I don't regret it at all, and I still think about my first lover even though we aren't together anymore.
Are you more sexually active with others within the fandom? outside? equal?
outside... horses don't exactly understand the concept of the fandom.
If you are still a virgin what keeps you remaining that way?
I refer to the previous statements.
What kind of things could the furry fandom establish to help keep younger furries abstinent? Is this important?
Abstinence is unnatural, and teenagers have a hard enough time dealing with hormones. Its just immoral to say; "wait till your married". Better to say; "Make wise choices".

I was pretty old really; 24. Even so, she was older, experienced, non-furry, though I did draw a few pictures of her as a lioness afterwards. It was fun, for what it was, but it lacked being... special. There were no "I love yous," just a fairly spontaneous act of passion. Good feeling in the groin, then separate beds for the rest of the night. Regret? Not really sure. Felt good but was kinda cheap, like getting the 1-line prize in bingo.
Since that I've only really had one girlfriend, she wasn't furry, but was supportive of all things artistic; think we hooked up because she had been browsing through my galleries of furry smut and liked what she saw xD She stayed the night and made me feel wanted, and I think that's what really matters. First time was just sex, this was making love, and it's better, it really is.
I tend to be quite reclusive, and if not for the two girls I've known being pretty forward, I'd likely still be virgin. Would I be a different person? Unlikely; I live alone and prefer to do so. All choices are mine, responsibility none but myself. I don't know anyone who would indulge in sex-for-friendship, and I'm not prepared to sleep with strangers, so I guess I end up pretty celebate by choice and circumstance. Oddly it doesn't bother me. Suspect I lack a pair-bonding gene.
As to keeping younger people abstinent... mixed thoughts. Truth be told, most people at 20 are not the same person they were at 13-18. They think different, act different, and often regret choices they made. People tend to rush forward because they think they'll feel better about themselves after having sex. You know what? Nothing changes. Nothing. Losing your virginity to some other kid in a car park is, I'm told, not as fun as you'd hope at first, and neither is giving a handjob round the back of the garages. You'll certainly not feel better, and are likely to feel worse.
Be... affectionate towards your partner. Be friends, be in love, be somewhere safe and comfortable, be unhurried, but do not be rushed into it just cos you feel people will look down on you for staying virgin. Do whatever you do because you feel happy with your partner, because you feel warm in their presence, because you want to make them feel good. If you're not ready, say so; a partner you want to be with will understand. A partner who doesn't want to wait is not respecting you and never will, don't delude yourself otherwise.
Be responsible about sex, but don't deny it for the wrong reasons; if you want to, and can do so safely, and you're in a clear state of mind, and not being pressured, there's nothing wrong with it. But there is also nothing wrong with not having met someone you want to sleep with yet. It's just one state of being, and implies no failure on your part. Perhaps it implies your standards are higher than most.
Oh, and if you ever want to put someone off sex the harsh way, get their parent(s) to talk to them about it. Seriously, the moment you realise your folks still do it, you want nothing to do with the matter xD

Were you furry then? Was it with another furry? Some what furry and with a non furry
Do you regret losing your virginity? No. I actually wanted to loose it just so I could get it over with haha
Would you rather have it now or have lost it to someone else? don't care honestly.
Are you more sexually active with others within the fandom? outside? equal? I am always outside the fandom. Being that I am a lesbian it's hard to find females within the fandom.
If you are still a virgin what keeps you remaining that way? so not one x3
What kind of things could the furry fandom establish to help keep younger furries abstinent? Is this important?
Establish sex education talks at cons. Even if it was just a room for a convo to take place to give out condoms. I think this would be important.
How old were you when you lost your virginity?
i was 20 the first time i spread my legs for a guy.
Were you furry then? Was it with another furry?
yes and yes although it wasn't really that important to us
Do you regret losing your virginity? Would you rather have it now or have lost it to someone else?
sometimes i do but that is mostly due to my religious upbrining. i thought through the desision for quite some time before we had sex but those drilled in lessons stuck. i honelstly don't feel like god holds it against me, i just know it isn't something i can discuss with my parents. i'm happy i chose to have sex but i still feel a twang of guilt every time i open my drawer and see my chastity ring.
Are you more sexually active with others within the fandom? outside? equal?
well i've only ever had sex with rune and i'm perfectly happy with that
If you are still a virgin what keeps you remaining that way?
*cough cough* swearing my room mate so silence when my parents visit *cough*
What kind of things could the furry fandom establish to help keep younger furries abstinent? Is this important?
i fully support anyone who chooses to be abstinent, i think it is a good way to find a mate who apretiates more than a firm body, but i don't think it's for everyone. i lean more in favor of teaching good safe sex practices as well as warning abut abuse and jerks who just want an easy lay.

I think this is going to be less a discussion and more a big ol' list. People's views on sexuality are personal, and you can't really find fault in them most of the time, because it all goes back to the individual, less we get some really religious zealot who thinks sex should wait for marriage. I, however, will toss my hat in.
General thoughts? - The only quote I ever think applies here is this: "Sex is like oxygen. It isn't a big deal unless you aren't getting any." This applies to sex in general, but a lot of people use the "Oh, you need to get laid" excuse a lot. Having sex does not magically lower your blood pressure. It does not instantly mellow you out. It does NOT pull sticks out of your ass. (infact, some of it involves shoving more things UP there) It does not make you funnier, taller, or add inches to your bust/penis. It may make you cooler, but those kinds of people are fucking shallow.

What kind of things could the furry fandom establish to help keep younger furries abstinent? Is this important?
I think the fandom, and infact, modern colture, period, will never help anyone stay abstinent. The only thing that does that is the good ol' throwbacks - guilt, shame, and fear. While I just got through saying sex solves nothing, NOT having sex solves about the same amount. I suppose you run less risk of disease, but, knock on wood, I've had sex just about every week, ATLEAST, for 6 years, and I still haven't caught an STD. What do they say?
That's the power of love!

Were you furry then ? Was it with another furry ?
I wasn't furry then, but it was with the same guy I'm with now, so.. yes, even though neither of us knew it then, it was with a furry. :P
Do you regret losing your virginity ?
Nope
Would you rather have it now or have lost it to someone else ?
Nope
Are you more sexually active with others within the fandom ? outside ? equal ?
Equal, I guess...
What kind of things could the furry fandom establish to help keep younger furries abstinent ? Is this important ?
Hm... it's not really the fandom's responsibility to do this. Everyone has different opinions on this, and not all furries are going to agree. Personally, I don't believe in sex outside of a committed relationship.

I am not a virgin at all and don't regret anything. ^^;
Still there are tales to tell... *ponders* Ah. :)
I didn't know anything about the fandom at all back than. ^^;
Everybody needs to know for him/herself if he/she wants to keep her/his virginity. I think sex is great under the right circumstances. And furry fantasies are great, too! :D

I was 22 and a furry, it was with another furry, and I'm still with him.
I don't see why the furry fandom should try to help people abstain from sex. If two (or however many) people decide to have sex then they should go for it. They don't need the rest of the fandom butting in. I think anytime people try to apply rules to when you can have your first time (not until you're 18, not until you're married, etc.) they usually end up not making that much sense. Every person and relationship is particular and it's hard to effectively generalize between them. I can make one generalization though that is true almost 100% of the time: you know less about another person's relationship than they do, and they are more qualified to make decisions about it than you are.
If any person thinks that people should wait until marriage or until they're older before having sex, well they're welcome to write a journal post about it or whatever, but there's no way you'd get the entire fandom behind a single cause like that. The fandom is just a loose association of fans. It's not a unified organization and I don't think it should try to be.
But maybe it doesn't have to be the whole fandom. Possibly a group of furries could make a "Furries for Abstinence" LJ group or something along those lines. It wouldn't surprise me if something like that already existed. But very likely it wouldn't change anyone. People who already supported abstaining would join it, people who wanted to have sex or already did wouldn't join it, and it'd just cause a lot of arguments that never went anywhere.

Actually, there are safe sex awareness groups in the fandom. It got scary after some people were overheard at a con saying dumbass shit like "we're animals, we can't get AIDS!" and "Condoms aren't for gay sex, they only prevent pregnancy" and "I've got HIV! I hate myself and so I'm gonna go spread this around!" All true, btw. But yeah, there's a safesex group on LJ. We even had a safe sex panel at Morphicon this year. Also, since a million years ago, there's a pamphlet floating aroundcalled the Yiffy Guide to Safe Sex. I have a copy of it hosted here: http://www.kattywampus.com/morphico.....YiffyGuide.pdf (Very NSFW)
It IS taught in schools. A lot of that stuff, I thought, was common sense. I mean, they mentioned it in EVERY health class I've ever been in. And I lived in a podunk country area of the US.. and this was 12-15+ years ago. I wonder if some people just don't pay attention in school? 'cause that's seriously unfortunate.
General thoughts? I think virginity is a wonderful thing to uphold. But I also believe that sex is generally healthy if people are SMART about it and Protected. I held off having sex for a long time, a lot due to my religious upbringing (and I agree with Simon, tends to stick), but once I met and fell in love with Syntaxx, I found it more important to have sex with the right person rather than being hung up on marriage.
How old were you when you lost your virginity? 19
Were you furry then? Was it with another furry? No, and Yes, I think so.
Do you regret losing your virginity? Would you rather have it now or have lost it to someone else? No, I am completely happy with how it turned out, and I am glad to be able to share that part of myself with Syntaxx.
Are you more sexually active with others within the fandom? outside? equal? I guess the things we have done would be inside the fandom. Buuut yeah. I am committed to him and only him.
What kind of things could the furry fandom establish to help keep younger furries abstinent? Is this important? I think it's important for people to decide when they are to be abstinent. If it's losing virginity for the first time, it's having the smarts to do it. It's being safe. If anything,

...I guess I'm gonna be the first on this ENTIRE page, to say: I Regret it.
Now... might be the fact that it's 5 in the morning right now, but I'm feeling pretty honest. That also means vulnerable, so go easy on me, guys.
I was raised in a strong Christian home, and the values placed on Sexuality in that home are ones that have followed me throughout my life, and have shaped my views on the world as I move on into my adult life, as well.
Much of what I have come to learn about my sexuality, however, comes with hindsight rather than what some of you would call "mindless puritan brainwashing." I've lived my life and made my mistakes. I was fully able to abuse the networking privileges afforded to us with the blessing/horror of the internet to meet people... And that's exactly what I did.
I was 16, and at the time I thought it was love... Or at least that's what I told myself. But people, there's a difference between gettin' your jollies off and love, and I regret that I didn't wait. I feel that a view of sex that does not take into consideration that emotional connection that you make with each and every person you are with is a view that is painfully short-sighted.
I believe I read somewhere in this discussion that the concept of virginity is a concept 'not worth validating' because it is essentially applying a term to a lack of action. We give virginity it's symbolic meaning not because of the mere act of having sex, but because that first time is supposed to be with someone special. I feel too often that people nowadays have lost sight of the fact that sex is an act of exposing ourselves to one another in discourse.
Sure, we can cheapen that experience. I've had a one night stand (It was never meant to be a one time thing... but it ended up that way) and I've made booty calls, and I feel like a complete ass to be able to say both of those statements and know that they're true. But cheapening that experience means losing that conversation... that emotional, wordless connection that goes far beyond simply reading each other's body language. If you know what I'm talking about then I suspect you'd be hard pressed to find a better word to describe it than 'spiritual'... regardless of your religious views.
If I had had that with my first partner, I could look back with satisfaction... But I was not disciplined enough to understand my upbringing, and as a result I threw away an important experience in my life in favor of youthful exploration.
If I had waited for Nuri (I'd have been 17) I probably would not regret it. If I had waited for Simon (I'd have been 19) I -definitely- would not regret it. I don't know how people can say that virginity is nothing.
I'm not denying the physicality of it all... God knows I've lived that life. I just think sex is meant for something greater. So sue me.
Sorry to be long winded. I know there are others out there who agree with me on this. Please protect me from the flamers I'm bound to attract! :3
I love you Simon!

It's really great to hear you describe sex in that spiritual way, because I believe that sex is a VERY important part in loving someone. For me personally, sex could never be just a random fuck with someone, which is why I share it with Syntaxx alone. I love him and that's why I chose to share and connect that way with him.
I am sorry that you regret the way you lost your virginity, but I think it's important to enjoy the relationship you have with Simon more. Really treasure her, I can tell she loves you and I think you guys are just fantastic together.
I was also raised in a strong Christian home, and as I told Syntaxx earlier, sometimes I feel a little guilty. And sometimes my body reacts accordingly, mostly resulting from an ex boyfriend and from being raised to despise premarital sex.
I don't think it was bad to be raised that way as it taught me some very good morals, but I am trying to view sex in a different way, apart from my upbringing.

i'm glad you can be so honest here, you know it's something i would never bring up... you know i don't hold anything you did in the past against you, you're the best boyfriend i've ever had! (you even beat out the girlfriend :P ) i'm glad you're the one i lost my virginity to.
i love you rune!!!!
i love you rune!!!!
I'm actually REALLY happy that it seems the majority of people here believe that sex is something that should be reserved for love. Yes, it is spiritual! It's not a religion thing. I'm not Christian. Love is spiritual, and sex is sort of a "higher connection" thing.
I see FAR. TOO. MANY. people my age who don't see things this way, and, to be honest, I feel bad for them. They may see me in a bad light for not "playing the field," as they say, but it is me who feels bad for them. Unless they, like you, change their minds and realize the mistakes they've made, they'll never know the joy you and I know.
"I feel that a view of sex that does not take into consideration that emotional connection that you make with each and every person you are with is a view that is painfully short-sighted."
I feel this is very important. Teenagers are constantly jumping from relationship to relationship, and calling each one love. This is a huge social problem that is rarely ever addressed.

Love is a very loose word now, and it can still be difficult to know when it is love except for that very indescribible feeling you get inside. There is a big difference between the US and the UK in terms of the use 'love'. In the US it seems to be the biggest compliment that you can give someone, and so it doesn't surprise me when you see programmes about people who say they love one another and go sweeping into another technicolor hollywood ending - but this also explains why it can be a term that is used simply for being able to get someone, be it emotionally or physically.
In the UK it's almost the reverse, where you rarely here the word love being used at all, and when it is used you can get a quick 'no you don't' as a reply, which is more often than you'd think. But when it does come around it's great and makes you feel ecstatic. I guess this is a half agreement with what you say, but just to mention that the term 'love' is ambiguous and changes between different cultures, even in the west.

I do think that people like to go from dating to love in one swift move, and as we all know, it doesn't happen that way. I think many young people now, including myself a few years ago, were out for everything, and love was one of those things to be conquered, and we sometimes felt we had. But in reflection, we weren't even close.

18

no

no

i mate for life so right now for the past 6 yrs its been with the same person i lost my virginity with. And i hope it will stay that way. Like i said i mate for life.

Depends on how they view sex. Like i only want to do it with someone i can care about. Other wise for me there will be no point to it. I believe it is more then just a physical connections (the obvious way) but also an emotional connection. To me thats more important then just having good sex.

I was furry, but it wasn't with a furry.

I don't particularly regret it, just that it was clumsy, foolhearty and in my back garden at night with a girl who was 19 at the time. I feel that there is too much pressure on virginity and certainly image nowadays and that can really scare people into the way they think and act. I've known plenty of virgins in their 20s+ and I'm not shocked or put off, it's just one of those things.
Are you more sexually active with others within the fandom? outside? equal?
To be honest, the fandom doesn't have a very big following here in England and the only place where it does happen is perhaps London, where it is too damn expensive to go to anyway. But I did used to hit the clubs and go out all night on the town and pick up a bit of everything, but I've calmed down now.
If you are still a virgin what keeps you remaining that way?
Popped I'm afraid.

I don't particularly think there is anything that you can put in place or set up to help with younger furries, but the only thing that one can do is to be open and to speak openly about things - talking is an excellent way to bounce ideas off one another and also to put some personal issue worries at rest. Luckily I think the fandom as a whole is very open and giving, and so if younger furries needed to talk to someone about certain issues, that we would be happy to do so.

I was 6 when I lost mine. I'm not going into detail because remembering isn't very nice. Anyway, I sure wasn't a furry (even though I had a massive plushie collection and despised the idea of having baby dolls), I certainly regret losing it at a very young age but I don't find it that important. Its just the first time you had sexual intercourse or activity. Sure. Sex can be a very wonderful, passionate and a very horrible, live changing thing but if you really think of it, sex shouldn't matter much. I mean, I didn't see my dog get excited when she lost her virginity to another dog and had puppies. Its just...life. And I do feel the fandom pressures (and society period) young people to lose it too quickly. Mainly males. If a female loses her virginity at a young age (by consent), she is a whore. When a male does it, he is a stud and a player. I am a horn dog and sex is somewhat important to me. I feel its one of the best ways to get close to someone and a very good way to release stress. But, you know, there is other things in life.
I would personally say you are wrong on that. Opinion, mind you.
On joining the fandom i was never pressured int hat way. I never do pressure someone, and if they ever change thier mind and they say no, i stop there and back off to friendly hugs and cuddles.
I have always held the fandom is just a microcosm of Humanity. All its faults we have. I think the only difference is it strips away a little of that uptightness society has. Something I consider a good thing, and the FFC doesn't. I like the fact some one can be gay in the fandom and not be rejected except by some of the most extreme fundies (even Furry has 'em, remember: microcosm).
People will push it. (beastiality for that hot button example.) some may push their own views too far. Mutual respect is whats key, not pushing your view. Accept someone is different.
And I am sidetracking...dammit,,,

General thoughts? It's something to value.

Do you regret losing your virginity? Would you rather have it now or have lost it to someone else? I'd rather have lost it a different way than I did, and to someone else for sure.
Are you more sexually active with others within the fandom? outside? equal? Eh, I suppose it's been equal.
If you are still a virgin what keeps you remaining that way? x
What kind of things could the furry fandom establish to help keep younger furries abstinent? Is this important? I think it depends on the person, how mature/ready they are, and how well they trust the other person. I am not sure there is anything the fandom could do to help prevent it :P
Sorry if these were boring answers. I don't have a lot of opinions on the subject because, as I said, it's something that I don't feel I have the right to judge for everyone else, just for myself, and the only thing I would encourage is that if you are going to lose your virginity, use your head in the process.

I feel like I'm filling out a survey more than I am taking part in a discussion, but here we go.
I was about 15 when I lost my virginity (to my still-boyfriend, both of us have not had sex with anyone else). It was after the point in my life when I started drawing anthro art, but that really has very little to do with it, as my boyfriend is not and never has been a furry and I don't really see my participation in the furry fandom as having anything to do with sex. At all. I do not regret having lost my virginity at that point and I'm very glad it was with him and not someone else. As I said before, my sex life is something entirely separate from the part of me that enjoys creating anthro art or partaking in this community, so my opinions about sex and abstinence will not change whether applied to someone within the fandom or outside of it.
I think sex is a normal and healthy thing. I don't think there's anything wrong with having sex with someone you love, or even someone you don't. The key is to know what's right for you and to always consider the consequences of your actions. If you don't want to get pregnant or get someone else pregnant, do everything in your power to stop that from occurring. Same if you don't want to get diseases.
Every so often people who know both my boyfriend and I and know how long we've been together ask SO WHEN ARE YOU GUYS GOING TO HAVE KIDS? They are often baffled and surprised when my response is "When we're ready." It shocks me how many people out there go ahead and have children before they are ready or before they can really support a child and act as if it wasn't something they could have controlled. If I can be sexually active for 5 years withouth ever getting pregnant either I am either sterile or I'm doing something right that some folks just aren't getting. It's funny that these same people encourage me to go have kids with my boyfriend and make the same mistakes they did. I get a good chuckle out of that.
I think half the reason that people make these mistakes is because they don't understand their own bodies. I could easily place most of the blame for that on how people just don't want to teach kids about sex anymore. It's too "iffy" a topic, and in this state they don't have any real form of "sex education." When I lived in Vermont I got our earliest sex ed class in about 4th or 5th grade. It began with simple talks about how our bodies would change, how periods worked, etc. The last sex ed class I experienced in that state was in 7th grade when they explained the different kinds of contraception, how people got pregnant, STDs, and the works. When I moved to Washington, a state that is more conservative about teaching its youth about sex, I found that women (ADULTS) had no idea that they didn't pee out of their vagina. I about cried. This is probably why they have no idea how they even get pregnant and end up with tons of kids. They just. Don't. Know. UGH.
Okay, I could rant about this for hours, but I'm going to stop myself here. I know this was probably totally disorganized because I didn't really give it a proper proof-read. Sorry guys.

Sorry guys.
Oh boy, otter comes in on this (didnt go so well last time)
General thoughts?
Virginity is Virginity. To some it's sacred, to others its a "vcard" (God i HATE that term honestly).
I think the BIGGEST issues is people confuse lust with love. To me? two separate things.
More on that in a few...
How old were you when you lost your virginity?
That depends on your definition. As in just playing around/exploring? 10, with my best friend at the time (male) and that did include penetrative acts (oral anal). Sorry if that sounds a bit cold, just trying to...summarize.
Were you furry then? Was it with another furry?
Nope LOL. Didn't even know of the fandom back then (was in the very early 90's after all...say 90-91)
Do you regret losing your virginity?
Not in the slightest. I enjoyed the exploration, learned a thing or two about myself. My regret is i went on a religious bent after 7th grade and went all fundamentalist for a few years. Beat myself up over it, and was condemning gays and such. *sighs*. God i was a prick. and a nerd *smirks*.
Would you rather have it now or have lost it to someone else?
No, Mikey was a good friend. He ended up married so *shrugs*.
Are you more sexually active with others within the fandom? outside? equal?
I would say....I don't know how to answer that. Seriously.
If you are still a virgin what keeps you remaining that way?
What kind of things could the furry fandom establish to help keep younger furries abstinent? Is this important?
I don't think we should honestly. This country does have this wierd idea that sex is somehow naughty for teens (hey, hello, that's when the hormones are RAGING). It is their time to explore. We shouldn't be preaching abstinence to them, we should be council to them for informed choices, be it ALL choices: abstinence, condoms, etc. Because, face it, abstinence does NOT work.
As i said before, i think people confuse lust with love. sex/lust has been tied to love...and it shouldn't be. We get the guilt complex becuase "we didn't save it".
I love Kahuki. We don't have sex as much as we used to. Kind of happens in a relationship (I think repetition causes it).
We have a working, honest open realtionship, becuase we realise love and lust are different.
On the caveat emptor of that: Like anything that is fun, it can be abused and you can grow tired of it, so moderate moderate moderate ^_^. As much as I am sure people are going to go "ewwww" i masturbate more than i have sex with someone nowdays. *shrugs* i went a little to...gungho into it, and got burned out. Tease? Yeah, still a huge tease (otter after all *smig smile*) but thats pretty much about it.

I would like to bring up the observation that when asked about what we can do about teaching abstinence in the fandom, everyone seems to automatically think of teenagers. But I ask, what if there were younger kids on the site? These kids who should be enjoying childhood still...and not worrying about such adult things such as sex. Sure, kids experiment, that's how we learn and that's fine. But I think it's important to make kids understand that there are more things to enjoy in life, more things to do with their time, and more ways to have fun, than just sex. I feel like we are in a society that pressures kids into sex and it seems more and more, that kids are having sex at younger ages. And not necessarily ages where they make wise decisions, or that they truly understand the consequences of unsafe sex.

I hate being a virgin and I hate being in a society where it's laughed at that I am a virgin (aka, highschool).
If you are still a virgin what keeps you remaining that way?
I'm ugly. :B

Who honestly wants to keep younger furries abstinent? If you want to get laid, then go ahead, just be smart about it, y'know? Use a condom, or pull out, and if you don't have the self discipline to do so, don't even bother unzipping your fly.

"I don't know why just having sex is so important to people."
Our sex drive is under genetic control. Sex is important to us because we are the vector by which genes procreate themselves. Evolution favors stronger sex drives because stronger sex drives make for more successful genes.

Yes, but I'm not talking about an individual's sex drive, but rather, sexual status. The concept that having had sex makes you better than someone else who hasn't is so brutally primal that its place in modern society baffles me. People are so insecure and impulsive to be concerned about whether you nailed someone else (or at least lied about it)? I never gave in to peer pressure, because I saw no need to prove myself better than anyone else.
Oh, that...
That's just typical primate behavior. If you look at our closest relatives, the most dominant members of the primate societies are the ones that get the most sex. The only exception is the bonobos, because everybody gets laid whether they want to or not! But other than that, sex equals status and status equals sex.
I'm not so sure that this is a primitive leftover so much as it is an inescapable part of being an animal and primate. If such notions about status and sex make your genes more successful, then evolution will encourage and develop this part of our psychology.
Now, you might be one of those individuals who can actually think logically and gain a perspective that puts this primate nature into perspective. Great, I am too, but that is of little or no help to anybody else who isn't capable of that kind of thinking (which is most everybody else).

Actually, that's not quite true. I don't feel like digging up a bunch of research studies right now, but the link between sex and social status isn't as strong as people once believed.
If such notions about status and sex make your genes more successful, then evolution will encourage and develop this part of our psychology.
If this were true, the healthiest people would be the horniest (or at least, have the most incentive). We look at sex as a very primitive thing largely governed by genes and the spread of seed, but the more complex and more intelligent the life form, the more sophisticated the sexual behavior. Lesser animals may very well mate with anything that's available, but we don't just have sex with our friends, and neither do primates.
Intercourse gets all the attention largely because it's the easiest part, not because it's important. Mr. Casanova isn't considered a respectable person because he gets laid more than anyone else. In fact, it's largely the opposite.

Everybody is capable of that kind of thinking. Frankly, I find that last statement rather pessimistic, as if you have simply accepted that people can't be better than what they are. The truth is that there simply is very little reward for that kind of thinking, and kids grow up with a skewed sense of risk assessment. Our society trains our kids to think that sex is important. I don't think it really is that aggressively wired into our heads.

I know you are being funny, but I'll answer that with a serious response since I'm in a serious mood.
Sexual experiences when you are younger give you the experience you need to make sex less awkward later in life (college and beyond). If you learn when it's awkward for everybody, it's easier. Besides, this is probably what nature intended since 16-18 is probably when the teenagers hit their peak. If you don't learn the valuable social skills to deal with the opposite sex, which come with said experiences, you'll also be less successful finding a more permanent relationship.

That wasn't meant to be funny.
Perhaps I was too mature for my age, but to me, people saying they regret not losing their virginity at such a young age implies that the intercourse is more important than the friendship. I knew people in a relationship that decided to break up because they wanted to get more experience with dating other people. It's a sad thing to watch people justify their impatience as wanting more experience, rather than trying to truly understand companionship. People grow out of this phase on their own without sex.
Sex improves your social skills? I think not. They don't teach you social skills in sex ed.
There's a lot said about the awkwardness of growing up. Well, when I was a kid, I noticed that my tonsils were starting to form large holes that filled up with food particles, I had a giant mole on my right shoulder with thick hairs growing out of it, and I was regularly gaining weight even though I exercised a lot. I was scared my tonsils would have to be taken out, I might have cancer, and I knew nothing about proper nutrition. My health course didn't tech me a damn thing about that stuff. But, they sure did make sure I knew everything about my penis, and that jelly alone didn't protect against AIDS.
Given that most of the classes were full of people falling asleep, rather than giggling, I'd assume there wasn't much awkward about it. The kicker is, that was before the Internet was widely available, too.

I was 18 and it was with another furry, and it was crap. It was a she and she was that badly experienced that we just had to stop mid way because she couldn't take it all. It really frustrated me how my first time was absolute shit to be quite honest. It was that bad that I decided to write it off as a "practice" considering it wasn't even a full sex session.
So I feel that I lost my virginity with my next and current partner. In that sense it was definitely worth it <3

Not before marriage XD
How old were you when you lost your virginity?
Hopefully, it'll be before I turn 30 :P

If you are still a virgin what keeps you remaining that way?
The fact that, if I wait...the first time will be AMAZINGLY GUILT FREE 8D
What kind of things could the furry fandom establish to help keep younger furries abstinent? Is this important?
well, on the one hand, I don't think its right to censor artists just because it might save a few kids from having sex before they're ready.
On the other...
I'd love it if the fandom became LESS about how fun it is to have gratutious amounts of sex, usually with many different people each time.

Virginity
General thoughts? I think it's foolish for people to be ashamed of not losing their virginity. I also think it's foolish to try and lose it at fast/soon as possible. I personally believe that sex should be with that speceial someone. Not necessarily your marriage-partner, but with someone you love and trust.
How old were you when you lost your virginity? 18 years old.
Were you furry then? Was it with another furry? Yes, I was a furry. No, my partner was not a furry and he still isn't. (I am with that same man still.)
Do you regret losing your virginity? Would you rather have it now or have lost it to someone else? No. I will never regret losing my virginity. And I will never regret who I lost it to. I plan to be with this man for the rest of my life. Period.
Are you more sexually active with others within the fandom? outside? equal? No. I am a very monogomous person. I am loyal and would never cheat on my boyfriend. I cannot understand polyamority or "sleeping around". It doesn't make any sense to me.
If you are still a virgin what keeps you remaining that way? Can't answer this one. ;D
What kind of things could the furry fandom establish to help keep younger furries abstinent? Is this important? I don't think you should ever preach abstinance. I think you should preach safe sex. My parents tried to keep me abstinant. Guess what? I had sex anyawy. And guess what else? I practiced (and still practice) safe sex all the time. Because of sexual education I have learned what and what not to do with sex.

I'm still a virgin, and I want to lose it. but...I have a little Androphobia . But not completely, All my best friends are guys, we play video games together and we all get along pretty good. Just... fear kicks in if they get close to me, come into contact with my skin or if I can even smell their scent I freak out. And it's not like a lot of the guys I know show particular interest in me, they don't try very hard for me in a romantic manor.
I'm almost 19 and I'm just about to just say. Please someone just take it from me and get it over with...

I DO NOT REMEMBER THE FIRST TIME I HAVE YIFFED, I MIGHT BEEN LIKE 5, BUT THE OTHER DIGIMON WAS A BIT OLDER AND IT HURTED A LOT.
THEN WE YIFFED. I CAN NOT GET PREGNANT BECAUSE I AM AN INTERSEXED MOKVWAP AND HAVE INTERNAL TESTES. THE ONLY THING I DISLIKED IS THAT MY PARTNER BIT MY DICKLET WHILE GIVING A BJ.

still virgin at 22.
its taken me time to realise this is because you have to be interested in people to get with a person. My interest lies with a perticular cartoon character and im yet to find out how this has come to rule my life, but crrently i am owned by Norbert Beaver and have been for almost 6 years now.
Its serious, as in PROPERLY serious, not just some "OMG i have such a crush on norbie!!!" fanatic, I have a had a very meaningful relationship with him for longer then most people are able to hold relationships.
For this i will not be loosing my virginity any time soon. though i feel i have already lost it with Norb, i cannot say that i have because he isn't real.

I wish I was still a virgin, my boyfriend is abstinent. I'm used to being scoffed at by people (usually people living promiscuously). When I lost my virginity I was in university, I gave into the pressure, in the end I feel like it happened for the wrong reasons, but I believe everything happens for a reason.
