So this is Sammy after her emergency tail amputation. For those of you who don't know already, here are the details of what happened --

You can donate to help pay for the emergency ($3,000) bill by visiting the journal link provided. I'm currently accepting paypal and Indigogo donations because I do not have the funds to pay the bill. We're getting there though, with everyone's help!
Notice: She isn't out of the woods yet. She still has the infection in her tail, but they took off the worst part. They cannot remove more tail without her losing bowel control. She's on extremely heavy antibiotics, and many other medications right now.
For those of you interested to see how her tail looks now, you can visit the link below.

(No that is not a bone, that is a drain tube. No, it cannot be wrapped. Vet orders open air.)

$3,000 for a tail amputation ? It cost $3,200 to turn my German into the Bionic Shepherd when she was hit by a car and they replaced her hip and left hind leg, and that was 2 surgeons and an 8 and a half hour long procedure.
Sounds like you're being taken for a ride. Consider investing in "Care Credit", http://www.carecredit.com/
It's like a Credit card that you can use to pay for veterinary care(and it's for humans too) and then make reasonable payments for emergencies like this. If memory serves, you pay no interest if you pay off the debt in 90 days, I believe. If nothing else it gives you options for emergency vet visits, even if you don't have the dough to afford it at the time.

We did look into care credit, but care credit has extremely high interest if you don't pay back every cent within a set number of weeks. Something like %25.
I'm not sure about the cost. Doctor and veterinary costs here are very high for some reason or another. Plus the emergency charges and the after-visits, tube removal, and all of her medications. Its all included in cost of surgery.

Calm down sport, I wasn't correcting you. I was expanding on what you said.
Yes, it's often seen in "deep chested" dogs. GSD's, Rottweilers, Bulldogs, Dobermen, Great Danes, Standard Poodles, Boxers, and also Labs and Golden Retrievers and countless mutts over twenty pounds. I saw more retrievers come in with GDV's than all other breeds put together while working four years at 24hr emergency clinic as a VA. And almost every one had an undiagnosed tumor on it's liver/spleen or stomach (or all three).

I'm sorry to hear about your dog! Very cute, though... I hope she's recovering well!
If care credit is a bit expensive, have you considered getting a regular bank loan? The interest rates are usually a lot cheaper than CareCredit.
Also, about interest — yeah, it'd suck to have to pay 25%, it WOULD be money when you needed it.
No interest will be charged on the promotional purchase if you pay the promotional purchase amount in full within the 6, 12 or 18 month promotional period. If you do not, interest will be charged on the promotional purchase from the purchase date. If your purchase qualifies for a 24 month promotional offer, fixed monthly payments are required equal to 4.1667% of initial promotional purchase amount until promotion is paid in full.
Do you know if you qualified for one of those? Even a 12-month interest-free loan is pretty choice... I paid for my washer/dryer that way, and also my entertainment center and computer. :) It also builds credit, so bonusss.

I currently don't qualify for any loans because of my lack of 'real income' as the bank would consider. Just like I don't qualify for a credit card. It'd have to go in my father's name, as would any loans. Its really complicated right now. If I managed to get any of that, my Medicaid would probably be taken away. There are a lot of factors playing against me at the moment.

Have you tried any of these? :( I know how hard it is to pay outrageous vet bills. I hope all is well and Sam will be alright, such a cutie.
