The little unheard <tap>, <tap>, <tap> were bullet impacts. And the wing fuel cell quickly caught, and from their the fuselage cells. The extinguishers can work, but do best with in-flight airflow, and are not expected to be used on the ground.

She made sure he was staying. Possibly not what she was intending, or her best choice.

She has most of a whole armory of rifles, hand guns and ammo. Might even have some small calibre mortar rounds and grenades too. (didn't train with them, so wouldn't want to mess with them though)

The crankcases of most radial engines were of magnesium alloy, strong anf lightweight, but once they catch fire--lookout!

Those are turboprops.

Its a centrifugical turbine, so shooting the burner cans makes for lots of squirty fire. And regarding radial piston engines, the majority of types are actually made of steel and/or aluminium, and of those with magnesium, only some portions of the crankcase, usually the reduction gear housing and maybe the blower group are made of such. The R3350 was notorious for engine fires because the early production had massive over-heating problems and though the case was only partly magnesium, most of it was down wind of anything else that might bust loose.That problem was retroactively attributed to any number of other engines.

Forgot it was turbine-powered. A variant of the Convair XP-81 was also turbine-powered IIRC.

A "variant"? While the prototype temporarily had a Merlin engine in the nose, it was only a fill-in until the intended turboprop was ready. The type was intended to be a turbo-prop+jet fighter from the beginning.

Best way to insure any shots would do the most effective damage. She might have been a little late so didn't get there until both engines were running.

heh, I didn't think of that. I'm on the wavelength of character motive. She just waited a whole day, sitting on an enormous pile of weapons, and did nothing. Then it's like she was caught napping by the sound of the engines firing up. You got me curious what's going on in her head. Can't wait to see things from her POV again.

Could also be that our Bunny lacks that 'killer' ability... much easier to shoot at plane than shoot a person standing in front of you.... odd the way that some can commit an indirect act that knowingly would kill someone but baulk at a direct action that may just lead to injury... basically as long as they are not actually looking at them while doing it then their mind allows them to ignore the consequences of their actions...

that makes some sense. though, I don't think she was ever aiming to kill, only capture. Oh wait, I get it now. Her goal is to take him prisoner, so when he actually gets the engines fired up it's something like "shit, he's escaping!"

Maybe just a little bit of "Oh no...He can't leave me ALONE out here!?"

I mean, why else would she shoot the engines and not the pilot?
