This is awesome! It sounds absolutely fearless- like nothing else mattered at the time, but what you wanted your song to sound like. And you stayed true to it. As far as I'm concerned, that is true brilliance.

My compositional philosophy has always been (I guess since then) that the point of music is to sound beautiful. Not to be "different" or "innovative". Music is so purely aesthetic. It should just be beautiful; that's all it needs to be. :3

I share a similar view on the matter. I think music should be entirely reflective of the composer's soul, or mind (whichever you consider to be the source of all ideas). For instance, if one has no particular rhythm to their way of thinking, then their music should reflect that. Music, to me, is like a translation from figurative to literal (in a sense). Ugh, sorry I'm so vague.

No, I get it completely. That's why I love composers like Satie. He was EXTREMELY different, but he wasn't different in order to be different. His music was different because HE WAS NUTS! And nobody liked it at first! But he didn't care. Awesome. :3

Much better than my first attempts at composing music. And you were only 7 at the time? I must have been 15 or so when I started composing and those attempts were truly laughable.

Well, it was like I was just starting up piano lessons and I thought it sounded pretty. I'm only playing two notes at a time. At the time, it was all just my pointer fingers too. xD
