Unless it was the original manga version of Atem, that'd be a very different story.

To be fair, Atem was less of a pushover in the manga and the first season of the anime. The real power was in the Millennium Puzzle, rather than the cards (the manga uses a lot more games than Duel Monsters), and the Puzzle can turn any game into a Shadow Game, with the loser paying a forfeit -- up to and including death. (Note that "games" includes any sort of puzzle as well, including riddles and logic puzzles. The manga creator didn't want to be tied down to a single type of game.)

Just being a completist. It's still funny.

I finally finished watching all of season 0, including the official movie for Season 0, and I found it a little more enjoyable in the plot and some of the action, but there were certain things that made me glad we didn't get season 0 (i.e. Kaiba being an unlikeable asshole, Mokuba's stupid k-k-k-k laugh and..ugh! Anzu!!! I couldn't stand her whining, hypocrisy and playing Honda like a harp.) One thing I did like was how Jonouchi was a better fighter than his English counterpart in the officially dubbed anime, and also how he didn't just through a punch with his eyes closed. My favorite episode of Season 0 would have to be where Yugi get's his puzzle stolen by a sore loser and Jonouchi got to do his version of a "game" to get it back.
