"Crunchball - the new bloodsport that enthralls the Galaxy!
Featuring a higher participant mortality than rabid spineback rodeo and a set of rules so overseeable that it can be written down on a beermat, this brutal tournament pits teams of up to eight players on each side against each other and allows basically every concievable atrocity, as long as it serves the ultimate purpose of getting the ball -a sphere of massive cast iron- into the enemy team´s circular, floating goal. Together with the fact that the playing field is always selected at random and can be located everywhere from a scorched volcanic wasteland to a space station or even a crowded, neon-lit downtown, crunchball has since become the most watched sporting event on all galactic channels, with the champions league matches being live streamed all over the universe via quantum entaglement broadcast.
The young Pangolian siblings Shell (right, female) and Buckshot (left, male) are members of an ambitious team of aspiring crunchball champions. As exceptionally well-attuned duo of strikers, they have proven themselves in several matches. Soon, the promotion from amateur to professional league will be within reach - that is, if their squad doesn´t get decimated in the next match..."
More quill practice. Yay!
Gotta loose some habits I picked up by drawing with the drafting pen.
Also, for some reason, the more a character looks cartoony, the more I enjoy drawing them in dynamic poses. Just an observation, make of that what you will.

That is a surprisingly violent backstory compared to the art. Makes me think of FFX blitzball crossed with Unreal Tournament.
The text feel like a snippet taken right out of a game or an animated series of some sort, and while I am no expert, it also feels professional and makes me wonder if you have degrees in both art and creative writing.
Nice choice of animal by the way. Bet they use even themselves as projectiles ;)

Aww you, enough of the flattery, you are making me blush^^.
And to be fair, I rarely come up with settings, characters and stories all by myself. Actually, most of it is the product of some very prolific chat sessions.
Concerning the species, I like to go unusual ways, and pangolins are so cute that I seriously wonder why there aren´t more of them around.

Hey, I'm just speaking my mind here. But I suppose I could stop with the praise if you want...
Joking aside, bouncing ideas back and forth and brainstorming is a very good way of creating a setting. Nothing wrong with using lots of various pieces to create something new and unique in my opinion.
Like pangolins, which - unusual and unusually cute as they may be - I again like to note is a nice choice for the setting at hand.
