well if it says PRR or NYC Those were seperate companies formed after the breakup of Conrail

Last I checked, the Pennsylvania RR and New York Central merged into the Penn Central, which then got absorbed into Conrail. You mean they revived the old road names? I know NS did some heritage locos in PRR and NYC schemes, but...

On the heritage locos, yes. Otherwise, they predate the CR merger, just like this Frisco car predates the BN absorption.

But that's just managing track. Any rolling stock with those reporting marks would be vintage, as the LLCs owned none.
