A tip for tattoo cover ups, flat color is not your friend. Unless what being covered up is really light, it will show through, even through black some times. Texture helps a lot with distracting the eye. I've only worked as a design consultant for some tattoo parlors so I'm no expert but you should consider it yourself.
Nice design though, what I first thought when looking at it was that it was a screen print design for t-shirts. Could certainly be used as such.
