A mashup of some 2012 drawings.

I remember carrying my sketchbook around the local mall while I went shopping with my sister. That dinosaur was the drawing that really got me back into drawing with ballpoint pen again. Prior to that day, I went through a phase where I was somewhat comfortable drawing with pen, but then I went back to pencil for a long, long time. I've picked up pencil since 2012, but it's never been the same.

There's something about drawing with ballpoint pen that is simply beautiful for me. There's a confidence about using the medium. You really have to know where you're going to place the tool because if you screw up, that drawing is a goner. At the same time, you learn not to dwell on the ruined drawing and move on to create something new. Also, line weight I can adjust on a whim without needing to sharpen my pencil or carry around erasers. I don't really have to worry about what surface I'm using to draw on because the outcome is (usually) the same.
