Why does it have nostrils?

Well, dolphins do have a nostril, but it's not located on the tip of their rostrum. It's on the top of their head -- they call it a blowhole.

It's not located on the rostrum, it's located on the melon, and it's not a nostril, and there isn't 2 of them.

Two, no, it's not on the melon, either. The melon is the frontal slope of the head. Sometimes referred to as the forehead. It acts as an acoustic lens so the dolphins can focus their sonar/echo location sounds. The blowhole is located behind the melon on the top of the head.

If you think of it as an opening to the lungs, then yes, it's a nostril. A pretty big one.

I never said there were two...in fact, I think you'll see I used the singular blowhole, not blowholes.

I misread your first statement, but either way, I don't need the lecture on dolphin anatomy. That's why I was criticizing the picture. Thanks for agreeing with me that it's stupid.

Its not supposed to be a real life dolphin man. Its a drawing of a character I made up when I was 12. Its a fucking dolphin out of water with maracas. Yeah, totally being serious with this...must get every detail correct.
