Very nice piano work! Unfortunately I don't know much about modes, but I can certainly appreciate them. Is this a mic'd piano or some kind of sampletank?

Dorian mode is basically like a minor scale except the sixth is raised. It's my second-favourite mode. (My favourite is Phrygian -- see http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1568853/ -- that's one of my best pieces, I think... or at least that I'm most happy with personally. Phrygian is like minor except with a lowered second.)

The piano is plugged into my computer via a midi cable, which feeds into a program that reassigns a piano sound to the midi in-file.

Your music is invariably really pretty.

That's really what my composition philosophy is. It should be pretty. My music doesn't need to be especially "new" or "innovative". I just want it to be pretty. :)

Great samples, very realistic! I love the piece, reminds me of Phillip Glass. I like ur philosophy. It's basically, in the catagory of romantic music... which was all about making some sorta emotion with the music. Personally, I want my music to be either silly, thoughtful, pretty, or INSANELY SCARY.

And interestingly enough - I played Philip Glass in a play once. xD I made him a horrible monster too. I was absolutely fucking nuts. It was so much fun.

another good one, i love modal stuff, hee lest i repeat my posting from your phrygian piece, heh. i play a lot of dorian and lydian, too

and this is **VERY** nit-pickky but, the sustain trail on the last note, gah let it ring out, it's like my headphones get yanked out after the last note. hee hee im loving your stuff!

Haha. :P You're probably right that it should have sustained longer. :P That's the trouble with live recordings, though. You can't go back and fix stuff. ;__;

And thank you. :3 Dorian is really cool, I think. Lydian is a bit too happy usually for my tastes, but it's at least really pretty, unlike Locrian mode. xD

And if you like Lydian mode, I highly recommend listening to Bruckner's Os Justi. It's unbelievable. :D

I love some of the modes, but absolutely HATE others. :P Maybe some people hate Dorian (;__;). All the modes sound pretty weird except Ionian. :P

Eh well ionian is pretty much major so its not really to exotic sounding, still nice though. as far as modes go i really like lydian :)

Lydian's pretty good. My favourites are Phrygian and Dorian. :3
