Here is another JNL short, but this time it's a bit of a backstory. For Jack in the first year of travelling the world, where he was only 19 years old.
Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy this insight into a bit of Jack's past.

Birds chirped and sung their songs, as the wind lightly blew through the leaves. Various animal sounds, all around as I stopped to take in a deep breath. ‘It was worth coming here. Queensland is beautiful’ I thought to myself as I continued my hike. The sound and the smell of the rain forest surrounding me as I continued towards my destination.
I left home about a year ago, in a journey to see if I can visit where various UFOs have been sighted. I had heard stories that one had crashed decades ago in the rain forests of Queensland. Or exploded, I was not sure. The stories varied, but they were all the same, that one day a giant fireball streaked across the sky. Some say they saw a silver disc, wobbling and served, as if it tried to not crash.
But, from what the stories say, it went into the rain forest passed a mountain and there was a tremendous explosion. A fire ball had illuminated the mountain from behind as shock waves travelled far across Australia. From a look at the date, they say the windows in Perth shook. There were some reports on that same day that suggested the shockwave reached islands in the pacific.
It took a few days before people made the trip to where it had crashed/exploded. Surprising to me, there was no crater, nothing like what happened like with the Tunguska Event. There was a large gash in the rain forest though, as if something had skipped and dragged through the ground. Trees were uprooted, as everything in the gashes path was burnt at least.
Yet, no disc, no debris. Nothing, almost as if it was there, and nothing ever crashed. I had did as much research as I could, but only other thing unusual that I read in this area, was some sighting of a black furred fox. I paid that no attention as I made it to the ridge and looked over the area.
The gash was still there, plants had grown back, but that would never recover. From my advantage point, I could tell that something at least slammed and skidded through the rain forest, leaving this scar. I decided I would get to the bottom and set up a camp, because the climb looked like it would be a bit of a difficult one.
Night had fallen as the nocturnal animals took over; I sat in my tent as I read a book I brought with me. It was one of different UFO sightings and I was reading over the section of this crash. Looking, I saw that whatever radiation it could have left had depleted over time. I nod as I closed it, before pulling out a simple protein bar. The taste wasn’t the best, but it would do until I get to a town.
Day break came as I collapsed the tent. Making sure I had everything, I set off again towards the scar. The trail that lead down here was overgrown, but still just see able. I was being careful of any spiders or snakes’, knowing if I got bit then that was it. Sure, I had basic first aid training and a phone. But I don’t know if that would be enough.
I shook my head as I paused again; there in front of me was the gash in the earth. I took my first step into it, almost giddy, excited like I was a child again. Here I was, the sun shining on my fur as I surveyed it. My first UFO crash site, while it would have been terrible for the aliens, it was exciting for me. I could start my search for physical proof of aliens existing. I grinned as I set off, looking around it for anything.
Hours passed as I got near to the end of the scar, and nothing yeah. I couldn’t find any sort of proof at the moment that a UFO crashed here. Maybe it did explode or someone got here first. I don’t know, just so far nothing at all. I sat down on a fallen log, but I did smile still. Even if I don’t find anything, this was a site of UFO and alien activity. A place I wanted to see, while Roswell was on the list. I wanted to visit home sites; New South Wales had a few, but mainly sightings. This was where one possibly made contact with the planet.
I stood up as I stretched, might as well get to the other end of this scar. There was a town a mile or two that way. I began to walk again, as I looked around, and then I saw it.
A flash of light, reflecting off something shiny. I rushed over, as I brushed dirt and grass off of the object. There in the dirt, was an object, made of metal of some kind. It was small, like it could easily fit in the palm of my hand, yet it wasn’t simple. It was a small sphere with a little tube that attached it to something that looked like a metal prism. Strange markings covered it, blue in colour. Even though it was small they looked like writing.
I bent over and picked it up, bringing it closer. The writing wasn’t familiar at all, and it didn’t look like something that would be useful on Earth. My smiled turned to a grin, ‘Perhaps this is it. Physical evidence from a UFO.’
I pulled out a small container as I put the object in. It may not be alien or it may, but I will keep it with me until I am sure. I stood up straight again as I placed the container in my bag and started off again. Happy that I may have something alien, and that this could be a good journey. One in a way, I hoped took me to places I never dreamed of visiting. Who knows, the future could hold anything. I just know it will be one heck of a ride.
Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy this insight into a bit of Jack's past.
