Let me introduce earth's furriest heros! XD This band of heroes that probably looks familiar to you will appear in an upcoming comic project of mine. I could've named them "Defenders", but Marvel already made fun of the Avengers that way themselves, so we go with "Revengers" (which still doesn't sound as silly as "Ravagers", hehe).
Standing in front of the group is the commander of the Revengers, Lieutenant U.S.A., and I of course picked the most American animal, the white-headed eagle, for him, being the unimaginative person that I am. To his right is the Iron-Lion, which is simply cool because it rhymes, and who will probably go by the civil name of John Kraeftig. On his left is the supernatural contribution to their team that also prevents it from becoming a complete sausage fest, no other than Freyja, the norse goddess of both love, fertility, AND battle, interestingly enough. Yeah, Thor called in sick XD I made her a blue-cat-thingie, since Freyja is accompanied by, well, blue cats in Norse mythology for whatever reason. Then there is an of yet unnamed character who is kind-of an Werewolf, which means he changes from a normal anthro-wolf to a much bigger, much stronger anthro-wolf when he...feels like it. So no getting-angry shtick as with Hulk, see how original I am? XD
I will say I'm really happy with how this turned out. At first I planned on doing a dramatic low-angle perspective, but that was too difficult for me (in other words, too much work XD), and I also need a clear reference for when I draw these characters more often, so there we go with a plain sideview. This pic also made for the most expansive histogram of any pic I did so far when scanning, it almost covers the complete spectrum down to the darkest values, which isn't bad for ordinary color pencils.
