Allow me to introduce the rulers. King Austere Grandeur (simple brilliance), and his daughter, Princess Poetry. They see over the Earth Kingdom (a kingdom of earth ponies, of course) in a time long past, many, many years before the alliance between the three main sects of ponykind was struck.
Normally, having a Pegasus soldier fly in and invade the privacy of earth ponies was greatly discouraged (and very dangerous for the pegasus). So why, pray tell, was this particular pegasus being welcomed into the kingdom with open arms by it's natives? Simple! Because the young stallion in question was an inventor-- a powerful profession that would benefit whatever race it was placed in. The King might actually be considering offering up the Princess in return for the inventor's loyalty!
That would be all fine and dandy were it not for the very MINOR DETAIL that this pegasus was secretly... a time traveler.
