This was a commissioned species, not something I get often. I was asked to design a lizard-like alien species. I wanted to design something with a unique silhouette that would be noticeably alien, but not horrifying :P
I have a thing for species with longer midsections and a lower hip-line, I'm not really sure why. The two opposable fingers was just a weird twist to give him something really defining. He's probably a climber.
This species is CLOSED. It belongs to its commissioner. I know he's cute, but he's owned : P

Oh my god, this little fellow would be absolutely perfect for a sci-fi universe. Like, as an actual intelligent, communicating, thinking and feeling race, instead of monsters like you always see in most sci-fi movies.
Damn, I want to write a new story involving these things...too bad it's closed. x_x

Need to track down commissioner
All jokes and desires aside, this is incredibly well made! Amazing design, seriously. Love this to bits.

Gorgeous race there. The commissioner is very lucky. He looks like a race that is meant for a longer gate. Long distance at a medium speed over semi-difficult terrain. Possibly able to go quadrupedal if need be, using the thick tail as a counterbalance. Temperate climate to sub-tropical for the possible environment. I could see this race living in an area akin to the southern reaches of the Appalachian Mountain or in someplace like Argentina. Ambush hunting and gathering and mainly carnivorous but supplementing with a little vegetation like tubers or fruits.
The hip spines seem more suited for display than for protection. Either for attracting mates or to be used in dominance displays for territory or to frighten off rivals. The same with the head spikes.
