Illustration for KEEP WATCHING THE SKY Volume One covering the year 1958, an "interesting" one for sci-fi films. The name of the theater was an in joke. There was this rundown little neighborhood movie house in a seedy part of Hollywood that used to give midnight showings of oddball old "B" films to a select, invitation only audience, one of which was myself. It was good fun to see this crud on the big screen instead of a little TV one, but after about a year or so, the Gordon was sold and the screenings stopped. The Gordon then became an art house showing a different more pretentious kind of crud, but I won't go into that right now.
