So for those of you who don't read my journal - I have a writing community on LJ, called the Wyrm, where we do monthly writing challenges and mini exercises in between. Anyone's welcome, whatever your writing ability, all you need is an LJ account! Anyway.

This is my response to yesterdays mini-theme (here). It was submitted by a member and I really loved her idea, although I found it an incredibly difficult task: the more I thought about it, the more I realised I haven't really given fear to any of my characters! There was not one thing that I could imagine really striking terror in their hearts, and I actually found it quite distasteful to try and make them really scared of something. Whether it's because my imagination made them up to be these untouchable creations, I don't know - but this task certainly helped me a lot.

I remembered, in one of the character surveys or something in a past mini-theme, that Audax had been asked this question and his response had been that he feared losing those close to him. Well, what that really meant was losing Ovu, who is both a great friend and mentor to the Captain. Hence this little scene. It's a bit disjointed, so my apologies. :S

Note: Although this extract will play no part in my actual story, it is still my intellectual property, as are the characters. They are MINE and do not take kindly to being stolen or passed off as someone elses. Cheers.
