Joseph Alexander "The Parson" Davis had been raised in a very conservative Christian household, where contact between cockerels was reserved to handshakes at most. This was preserved throughout most of his life, including into the Christian college he went to. However, early on in the 2013-2014 Furry Basketball Season, teammate Zack Plushpaw gave Joseph a hug in celebration after the Spectrums won a game. Joseph panicked and nearly clobbered his unknowing teammate, resulting in a photo that quickly went viral, to the embarassment of the purple finch.

Even Pastor Alexander Davis, Joseph's father, realized that if Joseph freaked out over a celebratory embrace, something had gone very amiss...
