My music is unique to me, and if I'm just going to be put down and stereotyped, then I want nothing to do with it. I understand that "Techno" and associated music styles are more common here on FA, but to have your music blandly associated with everyone else's, like, sounding the same as everyone else's, is insulting. I do not want to be stereotyped and put into category; I would hope that you would look at each person's pieces individually and objectively. I don't think that I am the best by any means, but to have my music generalized in such a way makes me feel that you won't choose an electronic song purely for the fact that it's too common and not unique...Well, frankly, be it electronic music or otherwise, I feel that all music has a unique twist on it which is dependent on its creator; you told us to express ourselves, but if we all sound the same to you, then why should we?
I'm stretching out what you said, but to have comment on one of your songs start with "Yikes" when this contest is supposed to be fair is discouraging, and it says a lot more than you would think.
You may consider me withdrawn from the contest.

Alright. This was unexpected. Lets just take a step back for a moment. If you were to read the comments I left on the other submissions for the contest, you would see that I play devils advocate on every one. So that get's the 'Yikes' out of the way immediately.
Secondly, I was not saying that your music was bland and stereotypical- that was something you shouldn't have pulled out of my comment. All I was saying was that the sort of music you made for the contest had some strands of relevance to some of the other competitors (being in a simuler genre), and that's it's not bad, that it does not all sound the same, but that since there are a few songs that resemble what you have submitted, you're facing a higher amount of competition then, say, if you made an accapella track.
When you went on to say that you think I wouldn't add electronic music into the 'top ten' bracket, that was taking it a bit too far. I have no clue how you drew that conclusion. Already, there are three songs that one could consider electronic in the top ten, and last year, the winner of the contest made a trance track.
What's more, I just watched you after listening to the songs you put up for the contest, so I don't know why you'd think I was not impressed with your submissions.
I really don't think you should pull out of the contest,.

I appreciate that, and yes, I may have over-reacted. My music is like my kin; it's something I created, something close to me, so if I ever sense any sort of hostility towards it that I do not find to be constructive, I become hostile and defensive myself.
Yes, I may have drawn too much out of what you said. It's just that the way you commented on it seemed as if there was a lack of interest, that there was nothing there that might be interesting to you, or others. To me, it felt as if my music was being generalized; I take offense to that, as I believe that every piece that myself and others create is special in it's own way.
I now realize that that is not what you meant or intended. I get that, and I apologize for over-reacting and becoming defensive.

Speaking of 'I suppose I meant in general the common music furries make'
That was actually incorrect. I was too focused on the term itself (Techno), and not it's implications as relevant to your song.
What I should have said was that since your submission was 'electronica/technoey/ETC, it was a common trend in the contest (as it is in the fandom), and therefore, the competition revolving around those sorts of genre's is always really heated, because songs are not only rated on what they express, but also on their quality, depth, layers, and evidence of the effort put into the song.
