Ok here i am at a loss. it is some sort of fish bone. no idea what kind of fish. nto even sure what kind of bone it may be. i thought some sort of tooth plate or something but honestly i have no idea what the hell it is. other than it came from the same pile of bones as the fish head and fetish and spine part. and this is the second time in as many years i have found such bones there.
however it is an interesting piece and has wonderful pattern

I have something that looks exactly like that, found at a place called the 'pit' near my house, which is a place thats all sand surrounded by forest.
However it was not skeletal, it was sedimentary. I assumed from its size and shape it could have been part of some sort of ancient honeycomb, but if it wasnt what could all those holes be used for? And why would it be sealed off at the back with such a thin layer?
Perhaps my ancient finding is of no relation to your recently deceased finding...
