“Seriously? Do I have to?” The Fall Formal was the first major dance at the PokeCombat Academy and the campus was abuzz with the usual enthusiasm and detraction that one found at high schools. Despite the elite nature of most of the students at the PCA they were still kids who were sometimes held hostage by their own hormones and fears. In the case of one young student, a rather tall and shapely Umbreon with red hair and some impressive body piercings, it was accepting the fact she could look so good in a dress.
“Oh come on, honey!” The Weavile, Tabitha Warren, who was with her and dressed the Umbreon almost like a Barbie doll encouraged her, “You’re going to look great in it!”
“But it’s all shiny!” Licorice Swirl, the Umbreon in question, complained, “Everyone’s going to be making fun of the shiny!”
“Honey, you glow in the dark when you’re excited and you’re worried about a red shiny dress?” Tabi teased her as she held out the dress. Licorice was hiding behind a door and dressed only in her usual panties as she’d been subjected to multiple formal dresses to try on, even if she wasn’t happy with any of them. She couldn’t tell if Tabi still gave them to her to try on out of amusement or frustration as a dozen discarded dresses lay nearby.
“That’s different,” Licorice sighed as she took the sparkly red dress that she figured would make her look ridiculous and disappeared into the changing room.
“You know I’m not trying to embarrass you here!” Tabi said through the door, “I really am just trying to bring out your natural sexiness,”
“Not that sexy,” came the mumbled reply from the other side. Tabi just grinned quietly and waited as she checked out her nails and reminded herself not to forget her manicure appointment.
“Reminds me,” the Weavile added, “I’m taking you and Krissy to the salon to get all dolled up the day before the dance,”
“What!” There was a dull thud as Tabi guessed Licorice had been caught off guard by the statement, “What’s wrong with my hair!”
“Nothing, honey,” Tabi assured her, “Just going to make you look extra sexy,” No response came to that as she emerged eventually dressed in the rather stunning red dress that clasped around her neck and hugged the curves of the Umbreon’s rather fit and beautiful body. A black belt that doubled as a bustier wrapped around her waist and helped to perk up her bosom as well. Tabi found any comment she had caught in her throat as he looked at the gorgeous creature before her. Licorice looked at her in some bemusement as she wasn’t sure what was on the shorter ‘mon’s mind.
“Oh just say it already!” Licorice finally said.
“Damn,” Was the only thing Tabi could answer with for the longest time. Licorice blushed at the compliment, glad that her dark fur could hide most of the coloring that came to her cheeks.
“You really think so?” The Umbreon asked as she looked at herself in the mirror. Tabi walked into the dressing room and let the door close behind them as she smiled and adjusted the dress on Licorice as the taller womon fidgeted a bit.
“I’ve seen models and actresses not be able to pull off this look half as good as you do, honey,” The Weavile said as she turned the other to face the mirror again and ran her hands over Licorice’s sides, “You look amazing,” The dress wearing ‘mon blushed more and coughed a bit.
“You know we’d get caught if we did anything in here,” Licorice pointed out as she looked around for any potential hidden cameras that might film them. Tabi just giggled and smacked the Umbreon’s backside.
“Not talking about that, honey,” Tabi said as she slipped out again, “Get changed out of that and hang it up. We’re getting it but there’s something else I want you to try on,” Licorice sighed at the words and nodded as she started to slip out of the slinky dress before she stood there in nothing but her panties, her arms going over her chest almost instinctively. She took a moment to stare at herself in the mirror and twisted her body around in order to try and get a better look. She knew that she had a well toned and sleek body, but sexy? She wondered why now she heard it so often. Before, at her old school, she’d most heard snide remarks about how she was butch or a tomboy. For some reason at the new school she’d heard about how awesome she was and what a killer body she had. Licorice smirked a bit and thought about the leader of all that, the Weavile who now tortured her with fashion.
“Okay, here’s the last thing I want you to try on!” Said Weavile spoke up and pushed something through the door to hang up on the hook. Licorice sighed as she turned to look at what she expected to be something ridiculously over the top or ridiculously skimpy as a joke. Instead she stopped and realized what hung on the hook was something more in line for what she wanted in the first place to wear to the dance; a suit.
“You’re joking, right?” Licorice finally called out to Tabi, “This is some kind of joke where you’re teasing me isn’t it, midget,”
“No, it’s not,” Came Tabi’s steady reply, “You said that you thought you’d look good in a suit and that you’d rather wear that so I’m giving you the option,”
“I’m not following,” The Umbreon admitted as she looked the rather nice cut suit over.
“I’m just trying to give you options here, honey,” Tabi answered, “Just in case,” Licorice fell quiet at that as she remembered that she still had a decision to make. It’d all been easy when she knew she had a date and her other friends that she’d grown really close to had dates as well. Then she found out that the girlfriend of the guy she was going with was going to go stag rather than find another date, the two had a strange relationship like that, and Licorice had felt guilty so Tabi had come up with the idea of a bunch of them going as a mass group rather than just as individual dates and that’d solved the problem. Then, Licorice was asked to the dance by another guy and she didn’t want to turn him down.
Licorice sighed as she thought over what she’d brought herself into and just how complicated it’d gotten. She pulled the pants on over her legs as she wished that maybe she hadn’t said yes in the first place, that just not going might be a better option because then she wouldn’t disappoint anyone. She knew they’d never let her get away with that though, and now she just had to figure out what she was going to do. Eventually she finished putting on the suit and let Tabi know that she was done. The other womon came into the dressing room and looked Licorice over as she made a few adjustments to the suit.
“You’re right,” the Weavile’s said from behind the Umbreon, “You do look awesome in a suit,” Licorice didn’t really respond at first as she continued to look herself over. Tabi responded by closing the distance and wrapped her arms around the other’s waist, “I almost want to say wear this instead of the dress anyway,”
“So would that mean that when we’re out on the floor I get to be the man in the dance?” Licorice smirked as she asked the question. Tabi giggled and gave her a squeeze from behind.
“That was going to be the case either way since I almost need to stand on your feet to do anything but snuggle your boobs while we dance,” Tabi responded as Licorice just continued to smirk.
“Heh,” She answered and adjusted things a bit, “I don’t think we need to adjust the suit too much. It actually feels pretty good,”
“I’m really good with figuring out people’s sizes and measurements,” Tabi grinned and nuzzled Licorice’s back a bit, “So you definitely like it then?”
“Yeah,” Licorice responded, “You sure though? Dress and a suit? Your mom isn’t going to get to upset at you is she?” The Weavile just grinned in response and headed out of the dressing room.
“Don’t worry about it, honey,” she assured her, “Get your stuff together and we’ll go get some coffee,” Licorice frowned a bit as she still wasn’t used to people spending all kinds of money on her, but she wasn’t going to turn her friend down. Instead she just gathered up the two items of clothing and hung them back up on their hooks.
Tabi and Licorice didn’t say much to one another as they walked over towards the cashier who didn’t give either of them much mind. During it all Tabi bumped her hip against the taller ‘mon’s upper calf playfully from time to time and drew a hip bump back to her lower arm. The two girls giggled a bit between one another until the Weavile paid for it all and then headed out of the department store and towards the Starmiebucks in the mall. Two coffees with multiple words later the two were headed for the door and sipped on their frozen caffeinated beverages. It was a while before either of them said anything to the other in a rare moment of silence between the pair.
“Hey Licorice?” Tabi finally broke the quiet.
“Yeah, midget?” Licorice responded as she looked down at the shorter ‘mon.
“I’m sorry about the other day at the sports center,” She responded after a moment, “I know I probably just made you feel worse about being asked by Hino to the dance.” Licorice fell quiet again at that as she hadn’t wanted to think about it in the first place.
“Yeah, well, it was…kinda sudden so I understand,” the Umbreon answered a little unsure of what to do or say next.
“No, it’s not. Not really,” Tabi said as she reached up to take the other’s hand and pull her to a stop, “I got selfish and you deserve better than that,”
“Selfish?” Licorice blinked, “What do ya mean?”
“Well,” Tabi started and then stopped as she sighed and sorted through her thoughts, “I guess I got scared, you know?”
“I’m not following you here, midget,” the Umbreon definitely looked confused.
“Well, it’s just…I guess I got scared I might lose you,” She finally said, “Like, Hino seems like a nice guy from what you’ve said but, well, he’s not anyone I know, you know? It’s not like Dom or Fui where I know them and they’re not going to try and stop anything. Or take up your time…”
“You’re worried I’m going to stop hanging out with you because I go to a dance with a guy?” Licorice asked in some shock. She’d never had anyone get jealous over her before like this and she hadn’t expected it.
“Silly, huh?” Tabi asked with a bit of a grin on her face. Licorice grinned in response at the cuteness and nodded.
“Hino’s a nice guy, but I’m not going to go and say I’m ready to date him!” Licorice quickly said, “Besides, it’s just a dance. Not like that means we’d suddenly become an item,”
“I know that…logically,” Tabi giggled a bit, “But that doesn’t mean my jealous side didn’t rear it’s head,” She sighed, “It’s not even that if you were to start dating some guy that I’d be upset at losing our more intimate time together…well, I would but I’d live. It’s just that some of the happiest nights I’ve been having lately have been when you come over and we do homework and curl up for a movie and dinner and then go to bed and you just hold me close while we sleep, you know? I don’t want to lose that. Not now anyway,” Licorice blinked and looked down at the shorter ‘mon a bit stunned and unsure of what to say. Slowly she reached down to hug Tabi close and pick her up off her feet a bit.
“Oh Tabi,” She said quietly, “You know I love you. And you know that I’m not gonna just stop hanging out with you just because I start hanging out with some other guy more. I mean, sure, if I did start dating again I’d spend time with them, that’s kinda the point of having a boyfriend ya know?” Tabi returned the hug tightly.
“Again, logically I know,” Slowly she lowered herself to the ground, “I’m…just paranoid you know? I’ve never cared about anyone like I care about you and the only other time I had anything like this happen I was able to get Vince’s girlfriend to break up with him,”
“Wait…” Licorice blinked in surprise, “Ya made Vince’s girlfriend break up with him?”
“Back in middle school,” She grinned at that, “Don’t worry, she was a bitch who was cheating on Vince anyway so I did it because she was a bitch,” Licorice laughed and reached down to take the Weavile’s hand as they started walking towards the car again.
“Bet she was,” the Umbreon said, “Just don’t go worrying about me doing anything like that, okay? I had something happen to me that I’d never want to do to anyone else,”
“I know, honey,” Tabi responded, “Just…I still wanted to apologize for being so possessive and not being supportive and making it harder on you,”
“its okay, midget,” Licorice smiled in responds, “I haven’t even made a decision about it, ya know?”
“I know, honey,” Tabi fell quiet for a moment, “When you do, let us knows. If you want to go with him then knock yourself out. And if you want to fly solo then do that and we’ll keep from bugging you to much, or you can come with us and we can triple date,” Licorice thought about all that for a moment and sighed as she wasn’t sure it was all worth the hassle of going to the dance; but she also knew they’d drag her away one way or the other.
“I’ll make sure to let you guys know,” Licorice responded and was quiet for a moment, “And Tabi?”
“Yeah?”
“You know I love ya, babe,” The Umbreon grinned widely. Tabi giggled and returned the grin.
“I know, honey, I know,” The two walked over towards Tabi’s car with every intention to leave; the deed done the Weavile knew better than to press her luck when it came to shopping with Licorice. Both of them noticed something strange as they neared the vehicle in that they were being followed. Neither bothered to look over their shoulder as they didn’t want a hassle and figured if they could just get in they could leave well enough alone. Sadly the two ‘mon who’d followed them had other plans in mind as they quickened their pace and came in behind the two ladies.
“Leaving so soon, mamas?” The pair turned to finally see who’d followed them and neither womon looked very happy. Standing neatly in their way of getting out were a pair of greased up looking ‘mon who looked less than savory. Tabi looked towards the Pelipper that stood in her way even as Licorice frowned at the Cacturne that seemed like the smarter of the pair; not that that was saying much.
“All right, I’m just going to ask nicely once,” Tabi said to them, “Move…please.”
“Why you gotta be like that, mama?” The Cacturne asked with a creepy grin. The Pelipper in the way tried to mimic it to the best of his wide mouthed ability.
“Yeah, why you gotta be like that?” He sounded as dopey as he looked. Tabi just smirked in response but it was Licorice who smiled and took a couple of steps forward.
“What is it you boys want?” She asked and smiled almost seductively. The Cacturne looked towards the Umbreon and grinned a bit more widely.
“We just wanna talk,” He said.
“Yeah, wanna talk,” the Pelipper mimicked. For a moment Tabi wondered if he was half Chatot. Licorice gave a little bit of a giggle and stood a couple of feet away from the grass type before her.
“That right?” She reached down with a hand to gently rub at her thigh, “What’d you want to talk about, big boy?” The Cacturne watched as his eyes grew as large as his grin.
“Shit, babe. Looks like you already know what’s on my mind,” He answered and was obviously distracted. Licorice continued to rub at her long leg quietly, almost seductively.
“My legs?” She asked which drew a dumb nod from the Cacturne, “Or my foot?” He looked up not sure why she asked that and was greeted with one of the Umbreon’s said feet to the side of his head. The boot she wore planted itself firmly against the side of his noggin and directed it towards a nearby cement pillar that helped hold the parking garage up. Soon his head collided with the thick, hard cement and bounced him off of it before he went sailing away. The Pelipper turned his head and started to move for his friend before a set of sharp claws prevented him from getting very far. Tabi grinned up at him wickedly and tickled his throat flap with her razor sharp digits.
“Why don’t you show you’re smarter than you look and take your buddy and leave, hmm?” Tabi told the bird. He nodded dumbly but obviously understood it’d be better for their health if he did as was suggested. The Pelipper jumped to where his partner struggled to try and get up and grabbed him. The two ‘mon stumbled over each other to run as fast as they could in order to get away from the crazy womon who threatened their health. Tabi and Licorice looked at one another and just grinned.
“Guys,” They said in unison and started to laugh with one another. Both turned back to the car and climbed into it so they could head off in order to do something else. The pair left the mall in good moods, despite Licorice’s disdain for shopping, and figured the rest of the day should come out ahead for them as well. Despite a weird rough part the duo proved they were still close and good at communicating with one another. Whatever life threw at them they seemed to handle it easily, together.
“Oh come on, honey!” The Weavile, Tabitha Warren, who was with her and dressed the Umbreon almost like a Barbie doll encouraged her, “You’re going to look great in it!”
