Nice job, and using the old adage that "truth is sometimes stranger than fiction", a very similar scene could have really occurred in the late Cretaceous. The massive pterosaur Quetzalcoatlus had a similar look to the pelican and may have even had a throat pouch like one. It is very probable that they preyed on small unwary dinosaurs to include baby T-Rrexes if left unguarded.
