I'd go with either a VT Pen Pad (7 something inches) for around $30 or a Huoin 4 OSU tablet (around 4 inches) for around $25 if you're just starting out with tablets. I'd recommend the Huion. While it still lacks in size as an actual art surface -something you really want- it feels like a smaller version of a Wacom product. The stylus pen can also be hot-keyed which is pretty helpful too.
I've dealt with the VT. It's a decent starter tablet for the money, but it's kinda flimsy. Basically imagine a mouse-pad like constancy. I was always worried I was going to break it. If I could give it a meta-score I'd basically put the VT at around a 45-50 range basically because it's definitely not the best tablet out there and it has it's drawbacks compared to other similarly priced models. Granted, it comes with a bunch of art based programs, but you don't really need those when you can either download SAI or Photoshop if that's more your fancy. Also, since I'm writing train of though, the pen-stylus is battery based... a very odd feature which I highly disliked.
I'd say push your luck with the smaller surface on the Huoin, or just save. You're doing fine with the mouse, so I don't see a need to basically trade to a tablet unless you want to test the medium... and if that's the case, I say get whatever seems best and work with it. Only you can really know what fits you best as an artist.

I have kids and the Picture above was a ful 12 hour sit down threw a baby bad night colic and all i could do was hold her and let her sleep on me till hubby got home.
I do have sai but painting with a mouse you may as well try sticking the pen in your nose and drawing xD doesn't work lol.
I just want something that will work with Sai and go faster then click and drag every little point with the pressure tool xD
