I'm a moderator of a Get Along Gang tribute Yahoogroup so I contribute a lot of fan art there.
One of the cartoons/merchandise lines that shaped my interest in anthropomorphic animal art. A bit saccharine cute and blatantly marketed, but I liked the concept of a "Little Rascals/Our Gang" group of young animal kids with no gimmicky setting or weird convoluted explanation for their existence. Lots of good clean "general audience" creative potential to be developed within my rough drawing skills as the concept was originally intended to be.

The drawing was inspired by the CD soundtrack cover for a personal favorite anime series "Kare Kano" or "His and Her Circumstances" with the cast of characters posing in a similar fashion.

The anime "Kare Kano" or "His and Her Circumstances" featured characters wtih a similar personality make-up as the Get Along Gang...in human form.
Overachieving high school student Yukino Miyazawa (think Dotty Dog) finds herself falling in love with a rival class leader, the quiet and equally overachieving Soichiro Arima (Zipper Cat). She casts aside her "Miss Perfect" image and wins some new friends such as jealous rival turned best friend Maho (Woolma Lamb), short jealous rival turned friend Tsubasa (Portia Porcupine), and three other girls in athletic Tsubaki (Bernice Bear), soft spoken Rika (Flora Fox), and aspiring writer Aya ( similar type to Lolly Squirrel). Arima's friends include tall basketball star Tonami (Montgomery Moose) and smooth talking artist Asaba (think Bingo Beaver). Slice of life done with humor and quiet emotional moments.
