Oh I mean it was fun and pretty, but the villains were all obscenely terrible, and literally every conflict was resolved by Kirito being OP. D: It has a very strong first episode, though. A good hook means a lot. The first season in general is the show's strong point. It fell off even then, culminating in the main villain not even having a motive at the end...... >.<
I still watched and enjoyed it. I was just...disappointed. On that note, I highly recommend Log Horizon as an anime with overlapping content and much more consistent quality.

Ill have to give it a watch.
And yeah i think i fell in love with the actual premise and idea more than how it actually panned out as yeah, Kirito IS pretty much OP in almost every circumstance, and has an unnattural ability to seemingly make every women he comes in touch with love him and want to sleep with him D

Well the "harem" theme is an anime genre unto itself, and is an extremely strong presence in SAO. The rape themes are hardly underlying either. They also chose to include the sister-brother incest love trope--another common occurrence in anime. Quite frankly, SAO has a ton of really main-stream anime tropes, and it really adds almost nothing while making it more stereotypical. >w< None of that is strictly "bad," like I said, but it disappointed me. I feel very strongly that SAO could easily be MUCH better than it is. D: Don't get me wrong, though. I don't dislike it; I like it in a guilty pleasure kind of way. All the positive things I have to say about it are really generic, though. XD
