Thank you! I use a soft brush and a blending tool brush that I've made to get it smooth-looking :) And years and years of practice of course ;)

This is just insanely beautiful. What really stands out to me is how soft and thick your work is; the character really feels like she has volume and substance, even her wings look thick and powerful and full, like you could grasp them and really feel the muscle beneath the feathers.

I'm not sure of your process, but the look of it just feels completely hand painted from scratch and refined to perfection, like I can feel every stroke of the painting. A lot of artists use a layer for every separate part of their work (shadow, lighting, etc) which can sometimes lose that painting feel, and even if you do too, the final result has this sense of a one layer painting that makes it look very rich and smooth and a lot more natural in style.

And in all of this, a sense of character and personality was never lost in all the details. I look at this and get a sense that there is so much more to know about her, which I don't always see in such detailed work. Absolutely Wonderful!

This had a lot of layers, around 15-20 or so, but that was mostly because I didn't plan it out that well in the beginning. I usually spend around 2-5 layers on a complex image. But I am so glad to hear that, because I feel exactly the same. I try to give my pictures a more painterly feel, so that it doesn't look to clean or crisp.

And thank you for saying that as well! I haven't worked a lot on my expressions, until this year, or last would it be now. So I'm always afraid that my characters might look a bit too bland in my pictures, especially the full illustrations. I'm afraid they might drown in all the detailing. Therefore I'm very happy to hear that, thank you!

I can't get over how beautiful this picture is! Not just because the subject here is a bird that I have a huge crush on, but because of the level of thought and detail that you put into the entire pic. Just looking at it, I wander about the story behind it and the setting that it is in. Its the kind of work that you see when looking at an art book of an animated movie. I love your color and shading work and how you put so much thought into all of it. I feel like it belongs to a part of a movie ^V^
