was thinking of either 9mm which is nice common and available everywhere, or 12mm for extra power

hnn.....9mm....then i'd guess this weapon would be more along the lines of a sub-machinegun. cos 9mm is for pistols and SMGs...tho' i'd love to see what a 12mm looks like ^^

*nods* 9mm is so common tho, okay a lot of body armour can protect you from it, but in the end with that uch ammo around the world your sorted really aren't you? *grins wide*

hmm....how much 9mm rounds can you cram into the gun....hmmm.....a lot? XD

oh well, might i suggest flechette rounds for the shotgun add-on? you know heavy tungsten tubes that really slice thru the body like a hot-knife thru butter kinda thing ^^

oh a lot delayed, the 12mm comes from fallout where you can get a pistol from it (not fallout 3, more fallout 1 & 2, maybe tactics too)

I'd make it 5.56x45, or 5.56x39 and 20ga. for the shotgun.
5.56x39 is you want a russian smg, or the 5.56x45 if you want it like an M4 Carbine.
