The full motto on the tattoo is "люди звери!" - "people are animals!" It comes from an actual Russian prison tattoo design, and seemed appropriate for a number of reasons.

Fifties and sixties were okay. :c
Seventies so-so.
Eighties alright.
Ninetees were awesome!

There will always be wars, and there will always be gulags. Imagine a Fox through centuries, like in the Cloud Atlas.

Depending where you lived, 1960 - 1980 could have been a horrible time, as well. Which is, everywhere outside Western Europe and Northern America.

Unfortunately I don't know much about Czech history other that it was behind the Iron Curtain for a long time...

I know we count the time using 'before the war' or 'after the war' as a milestone. Because there's a war like, ever 50 years or so. :P

I was speaking about the iron curtain, indeed. Czech is just the only country I know people personally, thats why I have chosen it as an example :-3
