The anime is mediocre compared to the manga, which is so many levels of cool it blows my mind. It has Nazi's and werewolves and Nazi werewolves, and twice as much gore. If you aren't reading the manga, you're missing out.

Borders, Barns and Noble... pretty much anywhere you get books. Just look for it in the manga section. They've gotten pretty huge in the past few years.

Also, check your main library, often they will have some manga. For free, too! Not to keep though.
