Star of my playthrough in Omega Ruby, I found him with Brave Bird.
He has a knack for getting over-kill crits but often falls in combat if he can't take something down in one shot.

I guess they wanted something that would both balance him out and set him apart from Aerodactyl. Being smaller he'd be a bit more fragile, but I just can't help but see Defeatist as an 'artificial' way of balancing out his high stats.
Then again, I've never been big on the 'metagame' of Pokemon competitive battling, so a more informed and knoweldgable person would be able to better handle Defeatist - I for one want it to die in fire ^^;
