The Blackburn B-24 Skua were the first monoplane of the Fleet Air Arm, it were used as fighter and as dive bomber. It was introduced in the Royal Navy in November 1938 and was removed of service in 1945 but it was already removed of the fights in 1941. Same if it wasn't a very performant aircraft, the Skua were the first british aeroplane to shot down an enemy aircraft during WWII, that was a Do-17, the 26 September 1939. 16 Skuas have made sank the German cruiser Köninsgberg during the first battle of Norway, the 10th April 1940.
After it served in Norway and in the battles of the Mediterranea, the Skua, inferior to the modern fighters like the Bf-109 were removed of the first line. They served, until 1945, as training aeroplanes in Great Britain.
