Got my laptop at last, so here's the full text file for my story, as part of
wolfrider's competition. I will delete the other version after the results of the contest are released so there are no complications. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all!

What program did you write this in? It's a .doc file, but the formatting is seriously messed up. Was it a .txt or .rtf that you changed the extension on, or something?
Anyway, it's pretty hard to read, but it seems well-written. It's a LOT darker than usual for a Colmaton story, which isn't necessarily a bad thing (and given the title, obviously makes sense). I think if I had a couple main criticisms, it'd be that I felt KC and Wyatt needed more buildup - they're on the first two pages or so then more or less disappear until almost halfway through the story, and I feel like the revelation about their lack of friendship would have been more impactful if it came later. Shadow Bouncer's descent into madness also felt a bit too abrupt to me. I was kind of confused when he flipped out early on.
But overall, not bad :)

It depends on what program you're using; some use custom characters for certain kinds of punctuation that aren't supported in TXT. FA supports the uploading of .doc, .docx, and .otf, so the safest bet is generally to upload the original file. The only downside is that readers need to download the file to read it, but FA sucks at displaying text anyway.
