This is my opinion on how certian consoles ruined the gaming world as we knew it, go play a classic game today.

Actually im still looking for the right school. i graduated from high school and sort of took an extended vacation. but im more interested in music then games, games are a time killing but fun hobby.
I also cant program for shit. i cant even learn basic html!
but i know most of this stuff thru what ive read and experenced..
I was born in 1987, but as far as video gaming goes i have always been a generation behind :
a hand-me down playstation is free, I only payed for half of those systems. the others i either found abandoned in houses i have cleaned out or were given to me.
most of them didn't work or have the parts to make it work
(ac adaptor rf switch ect)
often i was forced to improvise and make cables and stuff.
(it only takes 3 wires to make a a/v out cord for a sega genesis)
im just interested in electronics... I always have been,
I took a vocational class in electronics and learned analog and digital basics.
then i got interested in music and possibly combining all 3.
(think Pete Townsend meets Les Paul meets Thomas Edison)
this is just a personal pet peve i have had since the 2d games were killed in their prime by (at the time) 3d graphics with horrible low res textures and lo-poly models :)

Hey. I like Rock Band. It's a fantastic party game. The bundle is is cheaper and quieter and easier to learn/pick up than buying a bunch of real instruments. No one I've talked to claims they mastered an instrument through Rock Band... Usually people buy the game for FUN not for instrumental skills.
all i ment is that there is a generation of 6 year olds that think theyis just like playing a real guitar or drum set,
every time i see someone playing AC/DC or Metallica on that plastic guitar all i hear is click clack click clack and the sound of squeesing plastic,
also, you can buy a guitar for cheaper than a ps3 and it sounds better and if you can learn how to play it you will have a real skill.
I just dont like it, to me its generations of great rrock music dumbed down and turned into some silly little toy. the bands that originally made that music put their heart and soul into that music, and the younger kids who play these games are gonna hear the radio one day and say "HEY! I KNOW THAT SONG FROM GUITAR HERO!!!" and have no clue who they are actually listening to.
im not saying people shouldnt play it for fun. im just saying there are too many little kids who think its the real thing and would probably be better off with the real deal.

well. this is just my rant and most of those games came off the top of my head,
i have played most of them but a few i threw in cause i rember they were popular.
and i didnt credit sega with banjo kazooie. :P i might have been thinking of that other game... either way you all should go play a classic system today.
I just woke up in a bad mood and this was on my mind. lol i started typing it at around 7:30 am, i wasnt even awake yet.

Honestly, I think the N64 has had the most reliably awesome games, only marked by also having a handful of some of the worst ever (Castlevania 64 and Superman 64 being nameworthy in that category :P)
I'd actually advise people to just skip the physical consoles and get an emulator and generic plug and play PC non-joystick game controller

I actually built an adaptor that lets me use a genuine un-modified ps2 controller via my parallel port.
http://arcadecontrols.com/Mirrors/w.....l.com/dpadpro/
it works great but you usally have to use a generic controller (they eat less power)
it works with analog and digital ps1 or 2 controls and if you build the right cord it can support
nes
atari
n64
genesis
snes
and all kind of other controllers.
some soldering skills needed, also have a small supply of 1N394 switching diodes
and a parallel port plug, you also need some wire and in my case,....
i had a broken psONE (the portable one) and i dremeled the controller out and now my pc actually has a playstation controller port on its panel!!!
^_^ works with Direct X so all your fave games will work fine.

Dreamcast was not killed from PS2, it was killed by Bernie Stoller. That guy killed Saturn by saying he didn't want 2D games or RPG games on it. While Japan had an awesome set of games, the rest of the world were drooling for them. Same with Dreamcast. Also a huge mistake was that there was no solid Sonic title on the Saturn. Sonic Xtreme was scrapped and we were bound by Genesis remakes and crappy Sonic R.
Wii is a great gaming console, I got it because it had another way of gaming than just sitting my ass to the couch.
The Xbox 360 is an awesome system and Microsoft is very open to casual games (Xbox Live Arcade), so there are a lot of hot 2D games as well.
Also the casual games market is getting big, and more people seem to get fed up with the all 3D and realistic thing. They want something simple and fun.

I dont like the wii cause when i play games im usally tired and cant sleep, so i play games till i get too tired :) i dont want to be jumping all over the living room at 3 in the morning, i think its good that it gets people off their ass too, i just dun like it much, nintendo has always tried to cover their ass by making their games kid-freindly
i.e. mortal kombat III on the 64
sega was always more bad ass then nintendo,
would you rather have a blue hedgehog that can fo supersonic and tries to free the woodland creatures from dr. robotnic.
or a hairy ass, italian plumber from Brooklyn that likes to bust bricks with his head and stomp poor defenseless little goombas to kill a stupid dinosaur named bowser or king koopa.
I do agree though, there needs to be more 2d games, and not just on the hand-helds either.

sega came out with lots of crazy things, the sega cd was notable cause it made use of that connector on the bottom of the genesis that said "DONT REMOVE" we always wondered what that was for until the cd came out.
>--- i forgot to mention it,
but then i forgot a lot of less popular portable consoles too like the neo geo or the atari lynx and ignored some redundant consoles lide panasonics 3do or the atari 5200, and nintendos ill-fated Virtual-boy.
(im aware the sega cd was somewhat popular though)

I totally forgot to mention my computers in this list,
I have a c64 and a c16
the c16 works great and was my FIRST computer,
the c64 belonged to my dad and he didnt take care of it,
i salvaged the sid but the board is shot :(
i also have an apple ][c
and an IBM XT (1meg ram 15mb harddrive what more could ya want?)
among my 20 or so shit PC's i use for spare parts
(i do have a small collection of IBM computers)
and yes long live the 1 button joystick.
(though warlords on the 2600 was awesome with 2 pair of paddles )
i just didnt want to brag TOO much,
