Reminds me of the time Sabrina in "Sabrina On-Line" was babysitting her toddler sister and Amy's little boy, and went to work with the two.

I get the distinct vibe that Anders doesn't like his mum, for some reason!

He refers to her by her given name, when he doesn't do so for his dad. I get the impression she's a stepmom who's tried waaaaaaaaay too hard to sub for his actual mom. (It may be more complicated than that; "actual" is a stand-in for whoever raised him in this hypothetical case.)

She makes me think of a possible trophy (but definitely) second wife who, instead of establishing her own relationship with her step-son, wants to be treated as if she'd been "mom" all along. In other words, she's a well-mannered bitch.

Pretty much exactly what I was thinking of, yeah. So if that's not what she is, she plays a particularly obnoxious role very well.

Parents who make decisions about how their adult (and living independently) children will spend their personal time are terrible.

I hear that. People should never be pushed toward / tempted by the thought of filing restraining orders against their own parents...

We could expand the concept to cover everyone who makes unilateral decisions about how others will spend their time and efforts (without permission)...

Yep, she couldn't be more obvious if she'd show up in a t-shirt
that read "Trophy Wife". So I don't blame Anders one bit for
being grumpy about it. And I utterly love his expression in
the last panel. Now that this is obviously back story, you have
me hooked, utterly curious how things managed to turn out
so well. Heaven knows if that's how they usually treat him,
Blix needs some stability in his life.
