Yesterday her first surgery for cleaning out her clogged artery went perfectly. I visited her last night and she was covered in tubes but she was able to eat (liquids only though) and she was complaining about her coccyx being sore from being in a bed all day. lol

But this morning I had a call from my sister that mom had a possible minor stroke and the left side of her body is paralyzed and she has a gastric tube down her nose for medication and food. They're postponing the heart surgery until she's stabilized but she's not in any pain. She's lethargic but still 'there', according to my sister.

From how my sister was putting it, it didn't seem like it was anywhere near the strokes dad experienced (then again, he had a whole bunch of them at once) and they're going to do a test in a little while to see if she can swallow

I'm thinking that she'll be able to swallow. My sister made it sound not quite as serious as what I would normally associate with a stroke. She probably went into it from the stress of the surgery itself.
