A lot of us had stuffed animals when we were little. To some, they were comfort objects, some our first best friends, some our guests at elaborate tea parties. To some, they were all these and more. There's just something special during those days that makes them all the more dear to us.
But everyone grows up. Sad fact, but a fact nonetheless. And for many, that spark in that stuffed animal passes on to something...unknown. New things to explore and experience take the place of that special connection. We stop believing in imaginary friends and monsters under the beds, it's regarded as a fact of life. Some of us fight against that, staying young at heart, but it happens.
Now, what if it wasn't us fighting against the inevitable, but the object in question that wished to hasten the flow of time? What if, when you moved on, so did they? They don't really know...where they go, but supposedly it's a pretty grand place.
So what happens when you have an owner that's not quite ready to grow up?
You wait.
Got this idea from seeing a host of stuffed animals being the key to that 'inner child door' pictures. What if it was the other way around? I need to learn how to draw humans a bit better to do this book idea justice, but I figured I'd share the placeholder. The character (heroine?) is based of my stuffed fox, whom I've had in some incarnation for the past twenty four years. I can only imagine she's quite ready for me to grow up, lol.
