You actually can chew peppermint candy canes, it has to do with the age of the 'cane. The candy softens with age, so last year- or the year before's- might be chewable. This happens swifter with the mini CC's then the fullsized CC's and I have no idea how long you'd have to wait for a CC of that size. But the goal was to break free so...
