Punk character concept. One of the first victims of the first Muslem suicide bomber attacks in the US in the 21st Century, he was literally blown to bits... but miraculously (or unfortunately, depending on your point of view), one of those pieces contained his brain, and still-beating heart. Paramedics dutifully collected every piece that genetically matched his vital organs, microsugeons saved him by a heroic effort... and in short order, he became one of the 21st Century's first heavily cyberized individuals, able to walk only because of his cybernetic implants.

After his recovery, he had a large tattoo of a phoenix rising out of a skull done over his chest in an effort to cover his huge scars, and took a new name for himself: Phoenix. He became fond of tattoos and piercings and seems impervious to pain... in fact, punches to his face don't faze him one bit. But the awful truth is, every second of every day he is constant, terrible pain. Every breath he takes, every step he takes, every move he makes, is only by sheer force of will against the burning pain... punching him only adds a single drop to the ocean of pain he is already swimming in. (FYI - I find this character design interesting, and I should probably try my hand at him again: I just didn't have the skill to do justice to his amalgam of scars, tattoos, implants and piercings.)
