Some sex & gender glyphs/symbols, because male and female are not enough! Here are some of the more common glyphs in the gender menagerie. There are alternate forms and more symbols than this. I find them all interesting, but I find all symbology interesting.
Transgender: Umbrella symbol for all genders. Often used by the trans community, or to indicate multiple genders/sexes.
Female : female sex, linked with Venus and Friday.
f2m/"cuntboy" : Female to male transgender. A genetic female with masculine secondary sex characteristics and appearance. Be aware the term "cuntboy" can obviously be taken as derogatory and insulting.
Hermaphrodite/both : Common overlapping symbol of both sexes.
Androgyne (hermaphrodite): Fused/blended sexes in one individual. Synonomous with hermaphrodite or an androgynous person. Also a non-binary gender identity of someone who is neither man nor woman (or both). Hell yes. >:D
Mercury symbol (hermaphrodite): Ancient alchemical symbol, linked with mercury, wednesday & the androgynous planet/god Hermes. Some people feel it looks too female and alter it, or use the other 2 instead.
Male: Male sex, linked to Mars and Tuesday.
m2f / shemale: Male to female transgender. A genetic male with female secondary sex characteristics and presentation. Be aware the term "shemale" is seen as derogatory to many people.
Neuter/neutrois : sexless, asexual, genderless. Neutrois is the gender for sexless people.
Other: same as neuter, or any other possibility.
It is a gender wonderland out there, people and things in all shapes and flavors. Monotony is boring.

Born that way? Female. They are usually genetic females with masculine structure and no breasts, it is the female symbol rotated to the position of the male symbol. CAH or other hormonal factors can be responsible for it if natural, but it is most commonly a surgical procedure for transmen (female to male transsexuals).
There also is an intersex condition called AIS that produces a genetic male with female external genitalia. But the bodyshape and identity is usually quite female in that case. Genetic androgynes have BOTH male and female systems, it is another word for hermaphrodite. As a gender, an androgyne is someone that doesn't identify as man or woman, and the male and female positioned symbols are for that purpose.

Excellent renditions and explanations! I'd personally add the astrological sign for 2 Pallas. It tends to appear strongly in astrological charts of gender-queer or intersex people. The most comprehensive examination of this that i know is from http://www.cauldronfarm.com/asphode.....derbender.html
What if we started using other astrological symbols for gender and sex? What sort of person might ♃ describe?

It's up to each person how they want to identify or non-identify. This set is mostly addressing genetics, but also takes gender into account. It focuses more on genetic male/female/intersex/neuter categories than social woman/man/androgyne/neutrois ones, but does mention them.
Best of luck in your personal journey.

Admittedly I meant to be a little more comical. Nice to know there are official versions though. I'll have to give them a try.

Hehe... Well, I'm an androgyne myself, though it's easier to just shrug and let people think of me as female most of the time. My mate knows, and I know, and that's all I really need. I'd have never known of even half these if I hadn't spent so long trying to figure myself out and searching everywhere in the process.
Which is funny, albeit understandable to me, as the story I've always known is that Hermaphroditus was born from Hermes and Aphrodite. ...
Another funny thing I would note, that you mentioned is that some people believe that the symbol is too feminine, which is kinda funny, considering the state of the furry definition of the term, add too, the fact that a number of body characteristics are actually female in standard.
... ... now I got it in my head to get Minnie or maybe even Relana drawn in the pose of the Borghese Hermaphroditus...

Indeed, Hermaphroditus is the son of of Hermes and Aphrodite, and he is definitely more famous, but for some reason even Hermes was often considered an androgyne way back when, especially when connected to his ruling planet (Roman name, Mercury). Historically, in religions and mythology most hermaphrodites were treated, structured and referred to as more male, and thought of in that way. There are of course exceptions (Like Neith). Sexuality was usually not the focus, but the divine composite nature was. In this fandom I've noticed it is a totally different ballgame, and usually changed for more carnal reasons.
For Mercury, I guess the people have a complaint with how it is basically a female symbol with horns, and they want part of the male symbol involved to equalize it and reflect the duel nature. And yep, the default biological mammalian condition is female, not male. :D Symbols are fun.

Mmm... I'm not scratching so deep, me. Even removing pure sex from the equation, a number of features fall into the female category, although I am not so sure that isn't an indirect result from sex.
... it would have to be Minnie. The statue is be-sheathed. ... though Rel does have the better body...

Mmm... If Minnie wasn't African, like I said, I'd say hir next stop would be Victorian, actually, when big figures were in. Relana would surely fit in.
Actually, funny enough, there is a Grecian-era Minine bit of art - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1489444/
Berma, actually, and vaguely more Indian (far east) in design, but that lush time period is still there.

Alittle bit more of an explanation. It goes with cuntboy as well.
If one is born a bio-male or bio-female and one is trying hard with becoming one's REAL gender, spending ungodly amounts of money because it's not covered under medical insurance, putting oneself forth to possibly being fired, disowned, and all these bad things...
And the fact that oneself views them as male or female and that's that... Being called "Shemale" (or Dickgirl) means that one is not really a woman, which in itself really hurts, and the same goes for cuntboy. Not only that but it is bringing unwanted body parts into the picture. PLUS. It would be bad to go around calling a bio-female and bio-male "CuntWoman" and "Dickman" it's just rude anyway.
I, myself, am a FTM, I actually press firm that I'm male in everyway. I'm one of the FEW FTMs (that I know) that don't get upset with the cuntboy label on myself. I actually laugh about it and just accept it really within the furry fandom, since really? I'm a boy who doesn't have a penis (or even boobs) but a vulva. It's the truth.

Thank ya for putting this out there. I always wince just a little inside on people using the two terms though I try to take it in good humor (being MTF myself) A friend of mine (who's FTM) and I were talking around and thought He-Gal may be nicer then cuntboy and had a good laugh over the silliness of the name.
I NEVER heard any of them before other than male, female, herm, sortof with shemale, i think.
Most of them I still don't understnad. X3 There just too many and I not sure if it really is a differce. ^^;
It also meation something about a she-god??? you mean a goddess? ^^;

FTM (or as you put it so sensitively,"Cuntboy") Are fairly rare in compared to the other gender variances out there, though that takes into the note that true hermaphrodites do not occur in humans they do show up in other animals like worms. If you like to learn more look up "Intersexed" and "Transgender" and you will see more about those who are in between male and female.
Interesting. I know there is many genders but from area to area as what they are. I personally haven't figured out what I would be called. I was forced to become a male. But it is a long story and not important in the long run to most. But this is neat. I don't really think of my gender much. But it is a fascinating topic. I know in one area of the world there is 5 "born" genders. No affence meant either. They have female, masculine female (I don't remember the exact word used), Hermaphrodite, feminine male, and male. Obviously there are more genders but that is what first came to mind when looking at this. But this is nice.
