(Wing Study 1 | Wind Study 2)
I wanted to make a curved dragon for a graphic I'm designing and I thought doing a different pose would be an interesting challenge. It was a challenge alright. Turned out to be much harder than I expected. x.x
I tried sketching out an idea first very loosely and it was terrible, but i learned at least a little bit from that exercise for my full drawing here. When the digits are all jumbled together, it gets quite difficult and I got pretty frustrated.
Critique and encouragement are both appreciated. I'm still a beginner but am trying to get better.

Hi Cassander, you may want to look at shorty's wing examples. She does detailed study of them:

Oh nice! Can't really offer much in the way of critiques, but the perspective of the wing fingers being in-line with the viewer has a very believable look to it. I say that because I've sometimes seen where a wing extended in the direction of the viewer looks disproportionate or wonky, likely because it's not spread out perpendicular to the viewer like we often see. Nicely done Cass!
This looks very nice Cass, and yes I know what you mean about the trouble once the wings start curving. I would recommend looking at some nice bat references to clarify how the bones twist and muscles will pull for further research. I know when I started drawing wings I looked at life-reference like crazy and a particular person on DA who draws amazing wings. Their name is "mirroreyesserval", and they draw some fantastic wings (along with having gorgeous pencil work ;A;)!
Here's the mostly dragon section in their gallery so you can take a gander, and good luck in your wing practice! >>http://mirroreyesserval.deviantart.com/gallery/24633695/Fantasy-Critters

Thank you.
Yeah, I realized as I was doing it that I should've assembled and studied more references. I might want to try practicing copying some poses, trying out bone-structures for them to understand better. This was mostly a first attempt to see what issues I might encounter and was a little impatient and wanting to get drawing, I admit. :)
Thanks for the link.
