(November 2000; photograph 2001) One of my last flings with real graffiti in suburbia. I'd been re-inspired by finding magazines chronicling graffiti culture at the turn of the millennium. This is about seventeen feet across, facing the daily commuter railroad in Nanuet NY.
The unpainted brick wall absorbed silver paint like a sponge. This pic is after a few months' exposure and the paint is already fading.
Not long ago I revisited this site after 15 years. More graffiti is on this retaining wall now but this piece was never covered or buffed. It has, however, been largely hidden by weeds and Ailanthus trees that sprouted next to the wall.
