This was my attempt to create an outfit that I could wear to a steampunk festival here in Massachusetts. It's a leather underbust corset thing with a fabric top and a ruffled skirt.
The leather part has straps that go up and over the shoulder and cross in the back. It's hard to see but the picture on the right kind of shows it. That was pretty fun to make although I still was not completely happy with the way it turned out. I think a redesign may have been in order.
The skirt was really fun to make, it's a green linen with some silver ribbon for trim. Bonus: I learned how to ruffle fabric the "right" way, I've apparently been doing it wrong for a long time.
The goggles are a couple of jar lids for lenses that are wrapped in leather and strung onto an elastic band.
Also the fursuit itself, minus the head, was made by me. That was fun but took a lot of patience. It worked out in the end though. I really like wearing a costume over the fursuit, but I really need to figure out a more fursuit-friendly way of putting stuff together. More elastic and zippers and less ribbons and buckles. I can change into the suit in about 10 minutes but it takes another 10-15 plus a helper to get the corset on.
On top of that, now you're wearing two things that restrict your breathing so it's important to not overexert yourself.
