This one's quite special. XD Her name's "Ryuuko", written with the Kanji for dragon and tiger (the word actually exists). One of my professors happened to see my scetches a while ago and since he liked them, asked me to create a sort of mascott for him. I couldn't find a single ref pic for these "ryuukos" anywhere online, but my japanese dictionary knew the term, so whatever.
I drew Ryuuko with the base I'd use for a tiger and added the horns that asian dragons have and made the tail more dragon-like with a quast I saw on one picture. The beard hairs are asian style, too, the wings however are not. I had several different design concept out of which he chose the datils he liked best (with a little support from us female students, most of whom were giving squealing advice that involved the word "cute" a lot).
Never had a professor who reminded me so much of a fanboy. And I mean that in the most positive sense!! He's awesome and very enthusiastic about his work. :3

Oh my. >< I think my cute gland just exploded! I think my favorite is the one where he is holding the book. XD
Beautiful job on the design (I could tell what you were going for before I even read your description ^^), and it's so cool that you have a professor that would ask for this. :)
