Located on the border of China and Pakistan at 8,611 metres high, K2 is the world's second highest peak and also one of the most deadly. It is nicknamed the "Savage Mountain" due to it's localised storms and treacherous slopes, and has the second highest fatality rate among all the eight-thousanders, after Annapurna (8,091m). It has also never been summited in winter. Definitely not a mountain for beginners!
