Another recent commission - for Nod Magazine, posted here with permission. John Stater had written an article about Germany during the Thirty Years War as an alternate fantasy setting.
One of the weird things that happened in that particularly terrible chunk of history is the Vatican sent relics to bolster the morale of the faithful -- bones or fully articulated skeletons of past saints, each with basically a certificate of authenticity, and liberally decorated by nuns (occasionally monks).
Given the amount of reverence shown here, it's a safe bet that these adventurers are Protestants.
