Fuck. Yet again I find myself wanting, yet unable, to like/upvote/whatever comments on FA.
So I'll just tell you that I would do that if I could.
Wish I could get away with that, myself, but the field I want to go into is one of the absolute worst about it - and everyone around me insisted I stick with college because oh it'll pay off (probably) in the long run (even though you're the first one in the immediate family to have gone anywhere near a college for computer science and haven't technically learned anything substantial in 5 years and...)
...Yeah, fuck that place. :I

You only NEED college if you're a lawyer, engineer, some sort of scientist, or digging around in peoples' bodies. Maybe also stuff dealing with hard numbers too. But there's tons of stuff you just KNOW, and going to college either won't teach you much, or kill your passion. I went to college for an Art degree, switched degrees after (I shit you not) two weeks, and then ran for an English degree for maybe a year before I figured out that everything I'd previously thought about college was provably true, and I needed to leave :V
Yup. Absolutely.
Still, I'm paralyzed from leaving by the fear that the CS/IT industry has their heads way up their ass still about folks with degrees versus those who don't. Plus by the time I got really burned out and disillusioned I only had maybe a year and a half to go and it felt like a waste to not see it through to the end.Way to play right into that sunk cost fallacy, self.

If you look at it like an adventure it's fun.
... it was for me, but no one ever thought I took it serious even though it was just me being ahead of the game >.> Be an overachiever and if they give you a list of every assignment/paper that will be due, do it early. Take one day to do it all. You won't stress for the rest of the term.
