The U.S.S. Yorktown was the first Constitution-Class Cruiser to undergo a refit. She was the testbed vessel for one of several potential refits, but used a number of the old Constitution components, having been modified rather then replacing them completely. The Yorktown became the first vessel in a small refit run called the Yorktown Sub-Class Cruiser.
