Fleet admiral Gala has had enough with the ruling council. As expected, seeing the council was not going to do things her way, she storms out. Afterword, all those who agreed with her deserted their posts to form their own group.
To me, this is the natural result of the pent up frustration of some of the Yar'Zanti who dislike the humans. The cohesive unified Yar'Zanti force has been shattered. Plus, I don't think this rift will bode well for the humans.

Well that was a definite change of events..... Of course the fact that the separatists are calling themselves the "Clan" doesn't bode well for those that they consider to be impure...... Though with they way their acting, calling themselves the "National Socialist Party" might be more appropriate.
Now I wouldn't want to be at Christmas Dinner with Ado and Hordak this year.
Plus what is a Thrall? A mind wiped human or something similar?

A thrall is another type of slave labor. Sometimes they're associated with mental control as well. But yep, they plan on doing more to the humans then just enslaving them.
I know I could have named them different names, but I thought up the name Clan after remembering the old Mechwarrior games. I felt the name was a little less offensive then some of the others I chose. Heck, you might see other bits from that game later on.
Ado and Hordak, hehehehe. Yea, I wouldn't either!

Well I look forward to seeing what happens next..... But this does lead me to a new question. Can one side wipe the mind of another Yar'Zanti and reprogram them to their side?
As far as the Thralls go... I trust we'll get a better description of them and their purpose latter in the story?

To answer your question: no not really. Its significantly easier to add memories then it is to remove them. At one point, long ago in the Yar'Zanti past, they did attempt to remove memories in hopes to alleviate traumatic thoughts. Yet, they were never successful in removing everything and tidbits were always left behind, especially the more painful bits. After that, they dropped that and went back to normal counseling.
To be quite honest, thralls and slaves are basically the same thing. The only really difference is that the word thrall is a Norse word. Added to that, some writers have used that word to apply to brainwashed slaves/followers. That's about it. As far as the clanners doing something special with their slaves, don't expect much. They already want to kill the humans, so having slaves is low on their priority list. At most they'll keep some alive for certain jobs then kill them once the job is done.

Thanks for the explanation on the abilities / limitations of the Yar'Zanti to program memories.
Again I have to wonder if the members of the Clan, group understand the issues with killing off all of the humans. Do they really not understand that if they kill off the host species, then their species will be heading down the road to extinction again?
