The clacks of the metallic talons ticked against the ground, the bird-like being walking down the concrete-built tunnel. In its hands was a hunk of uranium, though it a chunk that was fully depleted of its potential energy, enough so that it emitted little to no radiation and it wouldn't be of use for military weaponry. Corvus, as the bird creature was named, was tasked with hauling said depleted minerals to a storage area for the safety of those who worked with said materials. He had no reason to fear them, since each time he was to haul the ores, he would always don a specially made suit that would protect him from any radiation that he would be coming into contact with.
Once he entered the main storage area for the radioactive materials, he could hear the faint ticking of the geiger counter within his suit starting to sound, though disregarded it due to his many previous trips here over the time he worked at this storage facility. His head turned slightly to look among the barrels and containers that were here, knowing that each were stuffed with the purely depleted ores and minerals. All harmless thankfully, though he wouldn't really dare coming in here without the very suit he wore on.
His fingers shifted slightly on the uranium he held as he continued to walk, though when taking one step to try and turn, one of his talons caught onto a small chip in the concrete floor. Instinctively, he quickly shifted his other leg to prevent him from falling. The motion though was a little too quick for his grip on the uranium, it slipping from the birds grip. Realizing what he did, Corvus tried to move himself to catch the mineral, shifting his legs to try and carry him forward. The movement though went to shielding his eyes once the hunk of uranium landed on top of a disk of un-contained depleted plutonium, the two ores reacting in the form of a blinding green light, the geiger counter ticking like mad at the sight.
Even with his hands shielding them, Corvus had to squeeze his eyes shut from the intensity of the light. He though was soon swept off his feet when a blast radiated out from the two, sending him crashing into a corner of the storage room. The impact from it was enough for the helmet of his suit to pop right off, exposing the raven's head, it easily soaking up the radiation that was coming out from the light show. He didn't realize it at first since he had also hit the back of his head quite roughly, leaving him dazed up until the light from the ores was starting to fade. A groan came from the raven shortly after it faded, holding a hand up to his head to try and rid himself of the disorientation, the helmet of his suit hanging down onto his left shoulder, held onto it by a strap that was stitched onto it.
"Ughn...great...someone's gonna pay for leaving...disks of plutonium outside of storage barrels..." he muttered, slowly regaining his senses.
When he noticed that he was holding the feathers of his head instead of the toughened leather of his helmet though, he let out a gasp, trying to scramble and put it back on. Before he could do so though, he heard the sound of what he could figure as the straining of leather, like it was being pushed to its breaking point. He then felt that something was off with his body, slowly starting to stand up in his spot. When he did, the sound intensified, as well as feeling what could be stiffness in his limbs, grunting slightly at such before looking around. Almost instantly he could tell something was off, starting to form a question.
"Am I...?" he tried to ask, lifting his right hand to look at it. When he did so, he saw that his arm, nay, his whole body grow slightly from the movement, the raven's eyes widening at the sight. Despite the tightness the suit now had, he could see...feel...that his body was different other than size. Not only was he a bit larger, but he felt...stronger than before. Hell, he even did a small flex of his arm to feel the strength of it, seeing himself grow a tiny bit more. When his body did though, he then remembered where he was at, his joy quickly vanishing at such. He indeed was growing, but the movement was making him grow even faster!
Not wanting to be stuck in the storage area, Corvus quickly stood up, the helmet swaying slightly in its spot on his shoulder and started to run out. The stiffness in his limbs continued as well as his growth, his height now easily nearing the ceiling of the tunnel. He didn't want to waste any time in his escape, hoping to get out before he ends up being crushed due to his growth. He had to crouch down slightly as he went, soon forced onto all fours when he was seeing the light of the outside world ahead, pulling himself forward as fast as he could crawl.
Closer and closer the entrance came, yet smaller and smaller the tunnel would become. When he was starting to pull out of the tunnel, pressure was starting to build up onto his chest and his back, showing that he was running out of time. The last he wanted was to end up wedging right at the exit of the tunnel and end up crushing himself, planting both of his hands on either side of the exit and pushed on them. Slowly but surely his torso slid out, scraping against the concrete of both the ground and the edges of the tunnel's exit. It took him a moment, but Corvus was able to free himself once his waist was past the tunnel's entrance,
Pulling himself out a bit more, he started to pull his legs free, detaching the helmet of his suit and set it down close by, working on standing up as he pulled himself from the tunnel. The growth of his body was making it a bit difficult, his legs easily filling in the space that it used to inhabit. Once he fully stood up, all but a couple of his metal-covered toes were left inside of the tunnel, grunting a bit as the growth had wedged them in the spot. It took a couple of tugs and the tunnel threatening to shatter due to the growing pressure within it, soon freeing them and fully stood up and took a step back from the facility. Gazing down at the building, he was able to see the car he drove, now barely larger than one of his toes now, letting out a small sigh.
Looking over his body, he now had the chance to inspect himself fully; He felt much stronger than before, and the suit he wore, surprising that it grew with him, felt rather tight on his body. Not uncomfortably so, but just enough so that he could get the idea of how much strength he now had. Clenching a hand, he could hear the sound of the leather straining, yet it didn't irritate his hand within yet felt that it had the right kind of feel on it now. Giving his arm a small flex, Corvus was able to feel not only that the muscles within his body were many fold tougher, firmer and stronger, but could feel what could equate to a small stream of his own blood within flowing through the veins. Turning his focus inward, he could feel that even his insides were tuned to be much more powerful; His heart was beating to what normal people could equate to as thunder to keep his blood flowing without issues, his lungs taking in much more air to keep him supplied with oxygen, and various other 'improvements' that the radiation had given him.
Once he was done with his inspections, and seeing that he had been growing steadily from all the movement he was doing, he turned in his spot, seeing a cliff that was large enough close by. Walking towards it, he could feel the muscles in his legs tighten up to carry him the distance needed, the leather of his suit clinging to his body but again without discomfort. His body grew even more as he walked, soon sitting down on the cliff on a flat portion of it, shifting to try and get comfortable in his spot. A sigh came out from him as he leaned forward a bit, placing his right elbow on a knee and rested his head on his hand, looking at the storage he worked at.
"How the hell am I going to explain this..." he muttered, drumming the fingers of his other hand on the different leg. He did enjoy the feeling that he was much, much stronger now, but given the situation, he probably wouldn't be able to fully enjoy it since he'd most likely crush anything with little to no effort now.
